Teach them to sell Apple products then. :110: I have nothing against Apple computers as I have owned a few but nowdays when I see colleages buy them (notebooks, ipods, etc) and they tell me how much they spend, I always think "Hmm I could buy a HP / Sandisk product with similar specs cheaper and I'll have quite a bit of money to play with"
At first I didn't like the new gray and black look, but now I'm kinda tired of the previous one. Been using an iMac at work for almost two years and hopefuly might get an iBook next year. Great machine, but iMovie 6 HD is a buggy, unreliable crap and has made my job quite difficult lately. Expose is awesome, tough!
I used iDVD yesterday to encode some films, and it's the slowest piece of shit I have ever used. With my specs it should have torn through those video's like they were tissue paper, but it took nearly an hour longer than my shitty old PC!

I ve got a small question to pose: How does the intel hardware compare to the old G5's, MHz aside. (Architectural efficiency is what I m after)
Final Cut Pro is superb and is far removed from the newer version of iMovie, which I just ditched. <Another comment from a Mac user that admits... faint!> Barc0dio, I have never used a faster nor more fluid computer. I jumped the gap from G4 to the new iMac and never used the old G5 units so cannot give a comparison against that. I was considering a G5, but Apple announced the Intel deal and I decided against it. Used PCs for years and really love the iMac. Really!
I rarely use anything from iLife to be honest, never saw the need. And the Intel processors are a ton faster then the G5s. Its only gotten quicker as the old PPC software has been converted so.
Use Final Cut Express. The pro version needs some knowledge of how it works. I'm also a mac user, and I'm waiting for the new Macbook Pro. I hope that it'll be a good machine, not an overpriced gadget like the Air :-(
installed it on my macbook when i had it, in a triple boot with windows and OS X - if your planning on a triple boot look up rEFIt as a bootloader
G5 tower with 500GB, 6GB RAM, Leopard, Adobe CS3 Suite, Quark 7, Suitcase Fusion, .....Not too fun, somewhat slow, buggy and seems to have issue's with most every action you do (though any day to day Mac user say they run fine) MacBookPro Intel.....utter pile of shite, worked well for a week, then decides it hates external displays, projectors, DVD's and running software. In short, unless I'm doing something wrong here, A mac aint what they claim it is
