June 21st new season of top gear begins. I am so excited I can't wait to see it. Hopefully the budget cuts they have won't effect the show too much.

    Oh yeah!

And don't worry. It's Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow that makes the show so great. They'll probably make fun of the budget and make some cool cheap challenges.

Fantastic!!! I'm so looking forward to the new series. At the moment for my car show fixes I'm watching the pretty interesting Wheeler Dealer, the God awful Classic Gear (man, that show is so piss poor) and this week was the Fifth Gear Stunt Special. Oh man, Top Gear is coming back!!

Yeah. I've tried to suppliment my cravings with some Aussie TG... but I end up just shutting it off. Anyone tried the Russian stuff? I'm weary.

Wheeler Dealer is a great show for what it does and the type of show it is but at the moment there is nothing on any chanel (at least the ones i have) that can match Top Gear.

I did read in the local Edinburgh evening news paper not that long ago about the top gear team turning up somwhere when a wedding had been taking place or something like that which right now i can't remember but in the article it seemed like they were still like the top gear we've come to remeber over the last few years.

Still, can't wait for the new series and see what challenges they do this time and whether they have the standard buy cheap car and go somewhere without breaking down...etc or they have something a bit different like the amphibious cars, the lorry's or the police cars.

My favorite was the coupe episode, with the Starion/635Csi/Jag thing.

Looking forward to it. I hope they get a lap time for the ZR1.

    BTW, Yakumo,

I just watched the Retro core episode with Auto Modellistica GC and you mention you have an Impreza.

What year and model, if you dont mind me asking.

Subaru fan here, with a 2004 WRX with the Sti hood and wing.
I would have loved an Sti, but it was a bit out of my price range.

Apparently they are going to be doing less big events in the new series and more shorter ones.

As long as they stick to doing the event like they always do as well as the show then i don't mind if its not as big as before.

Maybe they will cut out the star in a reasonably priced car, always felt it slowed the show down. Hopefully the stig doesn't get the boot.

A 2004 WRX is a nice model to own. I'm not much of a fan on the front design of the 2004 model but as far as handling goes it's a very nice ride on normal roads and quite a beast out on the track.

I don't have the WRX (the tax was too much for the wife  ) but I do have an 2006 / 2007 (same model) Impreza Sports Wagon STi Tuned and kitted out. Very nice car that will leave many a sports car such as the Mazda RX8 standing at the lights but won't out run a WRX STi Impreza or an Evo 10 :crying:

Here's a few pictures of it. These are about 1 year old now. The car has much sexier alloys now that cost a small fortune, OUCH!

That is a sweet wagon. I preffer the front on the 2005 or older models, they look meaner that the 2006-07 models.
The newer mazda 3 lookalike models are the worst as far as looks go. Never liked the looks of the Evo, but the Evo10 looks great.

Nice alloys you have on that Impreza! I know what you mean about the older model looking a lot meaner. I see an awful lot of them on my trip to work everyday, about 6 or so in total. The 2005 or so model is extremely popular where I live. So popular that I feel left out for having the 2006/2007 model  Actually I don't feel too bad though because another guy has that nasty 2008 Mazda looking one in black. Mind you, even though it looks nasty he's burnt me off at the lights a few times

So how much did that impreza set you back? Down here they're about 16 to 17'000 USD / 10'000 pounds for a nice one with a remapping. Not a bad price but the insurance is sky high :noooo:

$14,000 about a year ago. Previous owner fixed it up already with the body kit and Sti parts, intercooler, exhaust and rims. All I've done is get the original side mirrors(not pictured) and an exhaust silencers, as without it its ridiculously loud.

It was tuned to around 350hp, but a while back it reset to stock for some unknown reason. At the time gasoline was 4.00+ USD and it was getting around 15 mpg, which improved to around 20-22 after detune, so I left it that way. I've been thinking recenly of getting it tuned again.

Insurance was crazy when I first got it, but after shopping around its down to $100 usd/month.

It does but it helps that (for me at least, being an American) I don't recognize most of the celebrities they have on there.

Be different if Robin Williams or Jimmy Carter were put into a Civic and put around the track...

They had a couple of American celebrities, and I do recognize some of the British ones. I was amazed the first person in the reasonably priced car was Jay Kay from Jamiroquai.

Nah, because our cars are classy how they should be. Not filled with stupid neon lights and f*ing awful music booming out of the car. Oh, and ours are new :110: That's the problem with the UK. All t he chavs or wankers as they should be called, spoil the image of good things.:crying:

If you do get on to Top Gear let us all know so we can keep an eye open for you.
