"There will be two different models (Standard Model and 3G Model) for the Next Generation Portable. The standard model will have a price list between $250 to $280. For the model with 3G support, players will able to play online in anywhere over the wireless network, as long as you subscribed with a provider. The price list will be between $320 to $350. The 3G version will also come with some extra pre-loaded applications which will make use of the 3G capabilities such as Augmented Reality." http://www.pspgweber.com/822/next-generation-portable-standard-and-3g-model-price.html
I think the prices are pretty fair, I'd buy one but like someone said on one of those forums I'll wait for a lil while as without a doubt they'll be a new and approved slimmer and lightweight model on the horizon. I'm dead excited about the Uncharted: Drake's Portable Quest (that last bit I made up lol) this is one of the reasons why I want this baby!
It might be a while before that happens. Reports are that the unit is pretty slim and light as it is (about as thick as a PSP 3k). The only way this gets smaller is if they shrink the screen and why would you want that?
I'm guessing £199.99 for Non 3G and £274.99 for 3G. Price point with 3DS really, They may actually have a chance with this one!
Having only got into PSP when it was 5 years old, cheaper, slimmer and with so many games I don't know where to begin, the chances are that as nice as it is I probably won't be an early adopter. Perhaps I should buy one anyway though and not update the firmware at all to resell in the future? :S
It'll be £250 and £320, dollar = pound, just like usual. Good prices Stateside though, I have to admit with what they packed in there I was sure of $300 or more as a starting price.
It'll also be interesting to see how secure this device will be. As you all know it took a while for the PS3 to be exploited so I wonder if Sony have learnt from their mistakes. Basically as soon as you fire it up and sign in would the so-called 'rootkit' be activated without you knowing. There's no such thing as unhackable, or is there!
Really! even if they offered you one for free. On a serious note I agree with you both, Fony have been a bit silly of late with their actions but they have money to burn and protecting their investment. It's such a debatable subject, I for one am on both sides (don't slate me please)!
He means if it's $250 in the USA, even though £1 = $1.62 at present, in the UK we will probably be paying £250, not the actual $USD equivalent of £155 as has been the general case for like 3 decades now... We always get scammed like this
Just import one from Japan at least it will be Made in Japan, and maybe slightly cheaper than buying one over here in the UK. No doubt we'll end up with the Made in China devices:crying:
Yes but again it's usually 1:1 with Euro. When something is 250 USD they make it 250 Euro and a bit lower for pound (at least when it comes to video game related things).
The Japanese one is far more expensive. 25k yen which is roughly $300+. Launch jpn units are already looking to be $400-$500 from import shops. Also until someone gets one there is a good chance the units are made in china still. My japanese DSi is made in china.
News to me, probably 1:1:1 $/£/e then? Never seen anything cheaper in £ unless it is different to the MSRP for whatever reason such as online discount or sale.
Wow I would've thought in Japan it might've been slightly cheaper. Most or if not all of my gaming hardware are Made in Japan, that's important to me:thumbsup: Usually the first batch are always Made in Japan.
Is it just me or is NGP a terrible name? Every time I see it, I think of Neo Geo Pocket... even for people who don't know what a Neo Geo Pocket is, something with "Playstation" in it would be way better. Of course, it's probably just a working name anyway.
Every time i've seen it's been like this $1=1e. Hell $1 apps on iPhone are 0.59£. Japan usualy is of equal price to USA but this time around the YEN/USD exchange rate is crap. Usually but with word wide launch less then a month apart. I don't see it being the case this time. We obviously won't know till we see screenshots of units from japan this weekend when it goes on sale.
