    Hi guys, I’m new here.

Any of you guys ever heard of or seen this bad boy be ? It allows you to play your DS games on the TV (split screen) or on two separate monitors at the same time (top and bottom screen)...DS Nitro in the house! The unit I have was bought originally directly from Nintendo for $4K! It’s a development tool used to capture footage of games. Really interesting piece, haven’t seen one ever come up on eBay etc....

Thought I’d dig around here for info...

    I've never heard of a DS-NITRO-CAPTURE - are you sure it isn't an IS-NITRO-CAPTURE?

If it's the latter, then there are quite a few people on here that have them. At one point, they were very uncommon, but after Nintendo officially dropped support for the DS a bunch of them turned up on the secondary market. It's also worth finding out which variant it is - most of them can only boot the official Nintendo flash cart and won't run retail games.

The other option for TV out is using an IS-NITRO-EMULATOR with the video out feature installed - which also gives you debug capability.

You are right, it’s IS Nitro Capture and this version plays retail DS and GBA games. From your reply they don’t sound too rare at the moment, do you know a ballpark figure?

As far as I know, all capture units (the nitro ones anyway) accept retail software while only the emulator/debugger doesn’t.

So an emulator with video out wouldn’t do you much good for playing games on a TV, if you don’t want to load your games via a computer every time you want to play.

Plus there are different versions available: wireless vs. no wireless, the one with being a little bit more rare

Really hard to say - on eBay, they have gone for anything from about $200 to $600, but $300-$400 seems to be the high water mark recently. Right now there are a couple of them on YAJ starting at 1000 yen with no bids, but that might just reflect a greater degree of saturation of the Japanese market than the US one.

I thought that too - but ones that won't play retail carts definitely exist because I had one. It was from a Japanese developer, although I don't know if that's related or not.

This one won’t play retail games either, you’ll need one with a black „face plate“ to do that.

I thought every IS-NITRO-CAPTURE could play retail games.

They should be able to, there are some floating around with broken cart ports I think. But Nintendo is also odd sometimes.

I don't have a nitro debugger/emulator but I can say my IS-TWL-DEBUGGER with capture can play retail games.
