Looked around and didn't see another thread, sorry if this is a duplicate.

    EDIT/ Damn I wasn't paying attention EDIT/

It has no marked Power button and like ASSEMbler said... how does one go about getting the media into the system?

The way that board is sitting on the inside just doesn't seem right. Also it looks like just a basic cheap board, even small companies get proto boards made usually.

I guess that we will have to see if he releases any more details about it before any more speculation.

    I think it's just a SNES casemod.

I'm going to hold off any proclamations of "Shenanigans" for now...

    1. The guy from game-rave seems to think that its real...
    2. Maybe an SNES case mod...but its very well done...er...at least it looks that way now.

I'm staying optimistic on this one.

Edit: Now that I think about it though...the lack of an obvious spot to pop in a CD still leaves a huge "?" hanging.

I'd like to know what the text on the "slot" at the top is.

Maybe this has nothing to do with SNES-CD. Perhaps Sony was considering manufacturing their own version of the Super Famicom at one point in the same way that Hitachi produced the HiSaturn.

Another thought; didn't Sony use some of the technology they were developing for the SNES-CD on the PlayStation? Perhaps this was a modified Super Famicom with added functions besides CD playback, such as 3D graphics for example. There are many possibilities if this is the case.

    1. Crappy US style breadboard showing in the back, as well as hand cut slot by the power.
    2. No power button on top.
    3. Controller ports look colored witha sharpie.
    4. Yellow av cable coming out the back, yet av ports below it.
PLUS a standard nintendo AV out. That makes for THREE AV
    PORTS.
    5. Headphone Jack with "level"
    6. No power button. They would not label the headphone level
and neglect the power button level.

    I say shenanigans

In 1993, after Nintendo contacted Philips, Sony received the opportunity to build SNES-compatible hardware.
I've got an Italian magazine, Game Power, with a full article about this contract. But no pictures.
That would have been just a Sony branded Super Famicom.
The "professional" and serious look was, maybe, targeted to a more mature audience.
It may be real. Why not? How many prototypes every company makes before releasing something?
