Nintendo really loves to **** gamers in the ***. Here is the final list of VC games japan will get. Note how some snes games will already be 900 (One which is out now in usa for 800). Also japan gets the best list of games at launch (I can tell you now that VC games would have sold alot more if thies games were on the USA VC right now). src - http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?url=http://www.jeux-france.com/news18248.html&lp=fr_en&tt=url Nes - Baseball - Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong Jr. - Gomoku Narabe Renju - Gradius - Ice Hockey - Pinball - Soccer - Solomon' S Key - Super Mario Bros. - Tennis - The Legend of Zelda - Urban Champion - Xevious - Mario Bros. Nice - See a lot of good classics there, but I was hoping to see some of the more obscure games, perhaps even some that were never released in the USA. I would settle for a "greatest hits" kind of thing though, provided there was a large assortment to choose from.
As I have speculated before, the Wii is a Japan-oriented concept, and it would seem that Nintendo is doing their best to push the Wii in Japan. Europe is an after-thought as always, and NoA, although driven by Reggie nowadays, is probably under strict rule by NoJ. Shame that there's no import-corner in VC. I would pay to play games I never got the chance to play the first time around. I m sure as hell not downloading *hits* such as Zelda 64 , Mario 64 or Super Mario Bros, since I ve milked those dry years ago.
I'm sure things will improve in a few months. Even Xbox Live experienced some growing pains from the start, but things fell into place and improved over time. I think the only real way Nintendo is f***ing anyone in the a** is by making the Wiimote such a add-on centric device in addition to the component cable debacle. I mean, there's the nunchuk, the steering wheel holder thing, and lord only knows what else. Extra cost and extra junk to store.
SuperGrafx, it is unfortunate that US and EU regions wont get JPN titles. I also doubt the release of 64DD games , although I used to burn a candle of hope for those prior to official announcements. I really hate seeing the 64DD games, when they had so much to offer. It's a pitty not many people can afford to own one.
True indeed. But the strategy could change over time as soon as things get up and running. I mean, Nintendo USA needs a "hook" so to speak to keep Wii owners, particularly those who are hardcore gamers/retro fanatics, so the logical step would be to offer up some Japanese titles. The percentage of Wii owners who want to play Japanese VC titles is probably low in the grand scheme of things where Nintendo feels this isn't a huge issue at the moment. Again, anything could happen. Hell, even Microsoft is contemplating adding an import games section to Xbox Live at some point...
IGN makes mention of Banjo Kazooie on VC, but this could be just them talking without regard to factual reality. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/746/746646p1.html One of the best examples of platform gaming the world has ever seen, Banjo-Kazooie puts you in control of a bear and his bird buddy. Banjo the bear has been personified, sure, and he isn't capable of too much on his own, but the way he interacts with Kazooie creates some unique game mechanics. Together, the pair fly, peck, and egg their way through enormous levels with loads of secrets. Truly essential, if you haven't played Banjo already, download this as soon as it's available on the Virtual Console. Banjo 1 and 2 were published , if memory serves, by nintendo. HOWEVER, the two-step agreement that sold the assets back to RARE (with Microsoft's money, and THEN microsoft bought rare), makes it clear that Banjo ,Conker and other characters , excluding those directly found in the Donkey Kong universe (Rare's 3d DK also wholly belongs now to nintendo, whereas in days of old, it was used courtesy of Rare) go back to Rare's posession As such, Diddy Kong Racing for the DS will be released sans Banjo and Conker. Considering that Banjo was a very popular platformer, its release on XBLA would mark a commercial success nontheless. However, I am uncertain whether MS has rights of N64 emulation, i.e to commercialy make use of a software layer that assumes the role of a Nintendo hardware - a settlement may be in place, with large cash flowing towards Nintendo - but alas, success is guaranteed if the original Banjo and its sequel can be downloaded on XBLA! Unfortunately for all of us, the original version of conker is short of 64MBytes, which is over the 50MB cap that MS has for XBLA games.
With the current state of emulation i cant say im really bothered with what the VC offers (especially at those prices). Might as well put a nice barebone rombox under the tv and play on that. Come on Nintendo, you cant expect me to pay some $insane amount of money for the same games i already own (multiple times).
Jesus is there anything people wont complain about. America got the wii first, japan gets better vc list. It's swings & roundabouts. Who's to say those games wont come out elsewhere its not like they have said they are japan only (yet).
Something I've been saying for months. Why people get excited (and even pissed off) about 20 year old games is beyond me.
I'm only going to buy VC games that are more costly for the cart than on the VC, but if Nintendo is going to start pricing things differently left and right they can go screw themsleves.
Let's just agree that everyone outside of Japan gets screwed in some way when it comes to video games.
You joke, but *knocks on wood* at least our machines won't brick when they connect to the 'net... *distant scream*
