I couldn't care less about any of those games on the Virtual Console. I either own the ones I would play or play the NES stuff on my Dreamcast for free. Nope, Virtual Console will never interest me unless they put up some rare titles that just cost way to much to buy on original format. Yakumo
ARG, I had a good responce writen and the stupid boards logged me out (so of corse when I log in i get an invalid message and loose my post. OH Anyways I should make my point more clear. I am not really complaining on the software list. Sure it looks nice but what I am complaining about is the inconsistancy on pricing & the fact that already nintendo wants 900 points for snes games. Thats freaking insane. On top of that sim city which the usa has for 800 points is 900 points in japan. Usa pays 800 points for genesis games and japan pays only 600 points. It's really freaking anoying. Nintendo is asking way too much for something that. 1) You have no ownership claim to (they can at any time revoke your downloads). 2) Can not share or bring over to a friends place (unless you bring or share your wii). 3) Use on any other device (ie DS). Yeah, Me! (not so much to bring about piracy but more want to figure out the system and hopefuly allow for running of hb roms).
wouldn't that esentualy be the point? Yet if you dl them with a jpn wii, you wont be able to play them on a usa or any other wii for that matter.
I think thats becos Genesis was a big sucess in america, while it japan it had a performance much like the Xbox did. About the DS, that would be pretty cool, but sadly the system is underpowered and the screen is sub-QVGA, plus if nintendo added a SD port to the DS it would help piracy in that system a lot, becos you wouldnt have to buy one of those SD adapters for the DS.
DS could handle NES and maybe some snes, gen & Tg16 games. Nothing stoped nintendo from letting you dl nes games in animal crossing to the gba (except for a few games). I've worked on 2 comercial DS games so i am familiar with the hardware. Also the DS is wifi & suports sleep mode, the Wii also has wifi. There is no need for a special cart device or anything else. Also if you want to get into simantics, nintendo already made a device for gba/ds that read memory sticks. It was their play-yan mp3 playback cart (also suported small dl games from them, yet this was later removed in the v2 model).
Nintendo stated that VC pricing would be 500 points ON UP for NES, 600 points ON UP for TG-16, 800 points ON UP for SNES/GEN, and 1000 points ON UP for N64. I don't necessarily think Nintendo is arbitrarily raising the price of certain games. It's probably just at the request of the third-party, in the case of Sim City. If however, Nintendo feels one of its own first-party games warrants an extra 100-200 point surchage (Super Mario RPG, possible example), then I will not complain. But only if the game deserves it. Try telling me that SMRPG isn't worth 9 USD... But I repeat, I'm hazarding the assumption that third-parties can request a slightly higher price point for their own VC games. ON UP, key word.
True but do note that nintendo published Sim City. All 3rd party snes games are the normal 800. I understand 3rd party can change the price which is probably why genesis games in usa are 800 pts vs 600 pts in japan.
Yeah I know, but having to use a Wifi loader on a PC kinda kills the point of having a portable... On the other hand, nintendo could slap a 8Gb (read gigabit) memory on the DS any day and make a console/ipod hybrid since most games are pretty lightweight in size so downloading one would be like any normal song on iTMS. You could use the built-in Wifi or the Wii, like the PSP is going to use the PS3...
No doubt that will happen. Nintendo have stated that the Wii and the DS will be able to communicate wirelessly, though I am not sure if they have gone into any detail about exactly how. Probably in a similar way to the GBA -> GC setup. It would be nice if you could use the touchscreen with the Wii web browser.
Indeed, anyway, what do you guys think is going to be the next controller revolution from nintendo? I say LCD-buttons like the russian Optimus keyboard...
Actually, I m expecting very original visuals next round. Miyamoto was playing with the idea of "doing away" with the screen (as we know it, and instead imerse the played in a 3d visual space), in an interview. I m excited to say the least, but engineers at nintendo are the ones to ultimately decide on this.
I think there's an article in this months EDGE magazine about some IBM prototype that is exactly like this. IBM and Sony (through the Cell chip) are fairly closely aligned... Hmmmm....
