To be completely honest, I have never heard of either of those games until now. Also, I have never owned a Saturn. Just searched up both of of them though and they sound like they have some pretty unique game play. Why do you ask? Ha, wow, I had no idea. I searched this up and read how it was the basis for the SMW hack, and went to play it again, and realized I had already loaded it up in the past! Hahaha good list, but that's more than a few! ;-) These are the few on your list I really want to play. :crying: I love Motortoon Grand Prix! So there is a prequel in Japan?? What system? Great game! I loved all of the tricks it pulled (Volume Up, Console Reset) But I don't think it is obscure neither average. I have never heard of it. Will try looking for it for the Xbox or PS2 when I get a chance. No Way!!! Damn, I am loving all the games you guys are coming up with, mainly because I haven't played a lot of them. You and me both!
The game released as ChoroQ on the PS2 in the States is probably my favorite mediocre release title. I didn't realize it was a mission-based sandbox RPG, where combat is resolved by way of racing. The mission management is a mess, but if you're willing to track it all manually then there's a lot of loot collection and story to uncover. I liked it enough to hunt down the other games licensed as Penny Racers titles, as well as Seek and Destroy. Sadly, none of them had the same RPG structure and most are just straight racing titles.
Only reason i bought sonic adventure battle 2 was for the chao garden. Something about those little chaos' that really get me going.
I loved Blood and its sequel - the original was better though. The guy was just so bad ass, he put Duke to shame. Hexen/Heretic and their sequels were pretty good in my book too
You should check out The Happy Video Game Nerd´s take on that series. Since of what I saw of the game you liked, on youtube. My mind said "damn I think you will like this". I am personally not into those games. But I think you will probably have a fancy for them, and maybe you will also like the "predecessor" to Resident Evil, which to me is Alone In The Dark 1 2 and 3, and perhaps you will like Ecstatica too, but maybe I am wrong about my assumptions, but if you liked those kind of games. Then it would make me smile, because I have helped you then.
Still got it for PC, was a pack-in with an Asus graphics card. Well worth checking out imho. Also: Mechwarrior 3 - imho far superior to 2, yet still retains all the customization options for the Mechs the way they are stated in the rulebooks, unlike MW4 which ditches this for a more simplified way of customising your machines. One of my all-time favs was Carmageddon2: Much improved sequel, and having "Be Quick Or Be Dead" from Iron Maiden on the soundtrack was pure genius Beware of Carmageddon: TDR2000 though... that felt somehow watered down and icky in comparison.
I think a few obscure/unpopular games I like are: Fantasia for the Genesis. I got this when I was really young. It was my first video game along with Sonic 1. A lot of people seem to dislike it in favor of the other Mickey games, but I really love the music, graphics, and really everything. It's so hard though, I only finally won it a few years ago. Siren for the PS2. Just started playing this a few days ago. The horrible/awesome voice acting and extremely creepy environments and enemies make this game wonderful. Rogue Trip for the PS1. This game is really the best multiplayer game for the PS1 and has wonderful music to go with it. SOO much better than Twisted Metal. Also I like the Samurai/Dynasty Warriors games. A lot of people really seem to not like these.
Which is better, the original or the sequel? I've been interested in the games ever since I saw Yakumo's review of one of them (I can't remember which one) on Retro Core.
I think I did the first game. It was fun however the controls were a bit stiff. Anyway, I thought this thread was about Obscure/Average games yet I've seen quite a few games listed here that aren't obscure or average  For me there are many great obscure Super Famicom titles but since I can't remember the names of them at the moment I'll list some Saturn and Dreamcast games. Dreamcast - DeSpira, A fantastic cyber punk adventure game with many drug and violence references. you do need Japanese to play this one. Oh, being drunk will make the already warped atmosphere even better! Saturn - Cutey Pia Sachie Heart Throbbing Nightmare, Another adventure game which needs Japanese however this is so funny you must try it out if you can understand the language. It's got adventure, mini games such as platformer and shumps in it and even various routs through the game. Yakumo
Brilliant little game. I think it had a lot of great ideas that would have been phenomenal had they been developed further. My list: Average: Azurik Blood Wake Phantom Crash Gun Metal Star Wars: Obi-Wan Toejam and Earl III Obscure: Blast Wind Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru
Way too many things to list. Tigervamp mentioned Space Station Sillicon Valley - I totally agree, that one was awesome. And speaking of DMA Design - Body Harvest! I need to nab a cheap cart off of Amazon or something, I miss that one dearly. Probably the first game I really sat down and played on my own that wasn't a racing title (my brother wasn't really into my Top Gear Rally or MRC or RR64). Lots of good memories flooding up. I thrive on average/miscelaneous games. @Barc0de, do you really recommend Top Gear Overdrive? I was always a bit afraid of it. My friend rented it when it came out but said it was bad and I never even saw it. I should just try a rom but I have the tendency to not take things seriously when emulating.
ah..Body Harvest..you do know that the same nice folks of DMA went on to make Grand Theft Auto III, right? Body Harvest is sort of a spiritual ancestor of the 3D GTA titles. Agreed, Space Station:Silicon Valley was very colorful and varied for its time. The n64 version was better than the PSX version imo.
Xbox: Wreckelss - This ones in a looker, and pretty fun. PS2 Robot Alchemic Drive - Love this game. 2-player made is a blast. Xbox 360 Nighty-Nine Nights - Liked the characters and the unique movesets, which I understand they got rid of in the sequel.
Of course. I didn't even know there was a PSX version until the other day when your post got me curious about it again and pulled-up the wikipedia page for it.
