Unholy war - PS1, fantastically addictive multiplayer. Rage Racer -PS1, kinda gets shoved aside by Ridge, was my first PS1 game. Ristar - MD, yeah it's kinda well known but if you give it time and really get into it you'll realise how much of a masterpiece it is. Dynamite Heddy MD, again another well known Treasure outing but my got it's great. Submarine Attack - MS, budget shooter for Master System, first cartridge I ever owned (after cassettes of course) just something really fun about it. Super Frog - Amiga. Rise of the Robots - I don't care how shit the gameplay is, it just looked so awesome when it was released. Alundra - PS1...massively over looked but so so so good, kicks the shit out of Zelda.
Alundra was FUCKING AWESOME. It was one of the coolest, and brutally hardest games ever. I loved it to death.
Would you count Snake, Rattle n' Roll as obscure? I never did manage to complete it on the NES when I was a kid. Years later I discovered there was a PAL Megadrive port, but I'm crap and never managed to finish that either. Lost Kingdoms on the GameCube was a pretty cool dungeon card-battler. Never played the sequel though.
Was Threads of Fate any good? I remember liking it when it first came out, but I may have been naive.
No, no, I recall really having liked Threads of Fate back in the day. We need more games like those nowadays, actually: Cute action-RPGs with decent controls, nice music, etc. Not every game has to be dark and gritty and brown.
hmmm a friend of mine used to play this RPG on the Amiga, and the game was Fate Gates of Dawn, and there are no youtube videos of it. But anyway that game, would I classify as obscure, but damn. Both my friend who had it to his Amiga, and I liked that game. So if you are into obscure games, but they are great. Then try to find Fate Gates Of Dawn, it is definitely one to look for. Here is a good information site about the game http://www.brueckner.onlinehome.de/fate.html
