http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...ice_finally_revealed_sticker_shock_ensues.php Yeah, you need a high end PC to go along with it too. I'm all for enthusiasts paying for the bleeding edge "work out the kinks" first releases, but I think that this is going to be too much. I do hope Sony can get down to a $300 price tag for the PSVR (expecting $350-400, and no, they haven't told devs how much it will be yet).
That one was a 25 question post that actually violated multiple rules. I love that it's been over a half an hour and he hasn't responded to a single question. I guess his FB handlers took the keyboard away.
I still fail to see the point of VR, even if a lot of progress has been made over the last two decades. Wake me up when the price is sane or if holographic rendering becomes practical. Zzzz.
I own a DK2 and its amazing. The sense of immersion is pretty awesome. So if the consumer rift is better than the DK2 then I can't wait to get my hands on one. But the price is way to high. I paid $372 for the DK2 shipped and I thought that was a lot. But $600? No way. I hope they lower the price.
And that's why not everyone had them instantly, only a select few. Same with inkjet printers and every other brand new technology.
I think it's less like pulling a 3DO and more like pulling a PS3, they can recover if it holds up to other products.
What the funniest part about all is when so many complain about the price. You don't have to buy it. Be smart with your money, it will drop in price most likely let alone quite quickly if it doesn't sell. Look at how expensive the iPhones are, and how expensive the PS3 was at launch ($1000 AUD). People still bought it, a person like me or you most likely won't be able to afford it for a while. There's much more important things to spend money on than a pair of goggles or a console.
