Of the Now Gen Systems which one gets the most play in your home?

Thank you, saves me time. Many people buying the Wii are doing so because its a family deal, some of which can barely connect to the internet and check their email, let alone post on a gaming forum (or one as niche as this one is). And guess what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Go out and interview people, act like a journalist outside of the house and the interwebz. The people out there (/points to the window) are where the answers are. You cant prove any of your god awful theories by posting on the Internet.

It's the 360, followed by the Wii (if I could vote for both, I would).

 

Could someone please close this thread? It's clear that GoH refuses to do anything but try to create system bashing thread after system bashing thread for no reason other than to try and stroke his own ego. From now on, I ask that everyone here simply ignore any thread that he makes like this. Stop feeding the troll and the troll starves.

...aaand then you say that. I was perfectly happy to do this poll out of general interest, but then you undermine it by saying that you've done it just to prove you're someone obsessed with console-bashing.

If you take the estimated sales of hardware and software worldwide and exclude Wiisports (except Japanese sales) and Wii Play (as for a time it was the only way you could get a Wiimote...) then you get

Under 2 games for every Wii owner
and
Over 4 games for every Xbox 360 and PS3 owner...

Games that have sold over 2 million units worldwide

Xbox 360 - 16
Wii (inc Wii Sports and Wii Play) - 14
PS3 - 6

(If the Wii had a higher software take up then it should have at least 20 games selling over 2 million units...)

Although on week by week sales the PS3 has already outsold the Xbox 360 sales in the same period and overall Xbox 360 sales have slowed right down.

I voted for Playstation 3.

 

Now Now I've been civil. All I really said was something about the Wii Doesn't add up and I wanted to do a general poll to see if my theory is correct.

How many of these PS3 sales do you think are from people like us who just want to own everything though?

3 reasons I think PS3 sales are rising

1. the PS3 is being bought as the secondary system
2. Cheap Blu Ray player
3. Too many fucking Red Rings, I'm jumping ship.
4. People waiting for God of War III

I know a few PS3 owners and of those PS3 owners 1 I know personally (my cousin) He really only has it for Blu ray.

For now the PS3 is a great media hub. in the future however doubtful. It's become a Playstation brand trademark to not enhance the system but Dumb it down. (PS2 to PS2 Slim the ever shrinking AV ports on the PS1)

 

Don't know as I think if you did a straw poll there would be very few people who own all 3 systems.

I'm sure even if that is the case it will be the primary system soon enough.

So? It didn't hurt the Playstation 2. I think it was estimated that about 40% of the machines on launch were being bought as DVD players.

I've still not heard anyone complain about a PS3 dying...

Of course, not like there are lots of other games that people are waiting for...

Anyways, saying online forums are gamer-only zones is exaggerated. It used to be, but today with corporate-sponsored and owned forums things are different. In those forums casuals and n00bs are the big majority.

I think he meant people sick of RLODs on their X360s going for a PS3 instead.

 

That pissed me off so much...such a cheap way to kill off the Dreamcast.

 

The Xbawks used to get the most play at my place, but since it went blind, the Wii gets all the attention now, also thanks to Bravvl

 

I agree, but as of late I been thinking that it was foolish to launch the DC with a custom drive and a modem, SEGA should've launched it with a DVD instead, and make the modem optional for those who wanted online play (or bundle it in future versions).

Even if it costed $250 back in 1999 that was half the MSRP of any DVD player...

 

Nowadays...probably my PSP, but only for homebrew...can't remember when I last played a commercial game.

My Wii probably gets as much play, but mostly for VC releases or playing GC games.

I can't really say that I play either of these much though (*supergun* :icon_bigg)

 

The Dreamcast's falure deserves it's own thread.

 

i think you deserve your own forum where only you can post and no one else has to read what you type.

 

It already had its own thread, several times, and that it would have had a better run (if not a very successful one) with a DVD instead of a Modem was one of the conclusions.
