Though you are only one man, your power and thoughts are nonetheless very much needed!

I for one think that violence isn't a way to solve problems. That's only the easy way out. The consequences of violent actions in the long run will definitely be far more damaging than one can imagine. Just wait and see. Maybe you'll be "fortunate" enough to witness it, maybe your grandkids. I for one hope things will change for the better.

For those absurdly "patriotic" Americans, maybe it is time for you guys to come out of your shells and live outside of your homeland and see what we see, hear what we hear. Perhaps maybe you'll learn how insane the "American way" of life/culture truly is in practically all aspects. Perhaps not. But i'm just glad that there are some Americans like Purge out there.

Peace to all living beings on earth!

Dude -- that sucks! You gotta love those "Holy Fucking Shit!" people... they really help the situation. Exactly what you want to hear when you have no clue what parts of your body are still attached. My brother was in a similar accident, but he was in the back seat. Everyone had their seatbelts on, but didn't matter when the car slammed into a tree. It only killed the driver, but made a very quick job of it. My brother was trapped in the back, and some bitch is standing outside the car saying, "I think the car is on fire!" So my brother had to climb THROUGH what was left of his friend the driver. Of course, the car wasn't on fire, and my brother had to go to counseling for weeks.

Well, we're glad you're hear. Oh, yeah -- I heard GiTS 2 wasn't that hot... I never bothered w/ it. Applesseed should be out about now though!

Just what is the "American way of life"?! Think about how rediculous that sounds.

This isn't such a black and white issue, patriotism has nothing to do with pacifism. I don't know exactly what you think we live like but I'm sure you're wrong. You should be glad to know that 48% of America is like Purge.

The "American way of life" thing might just as well be bullshit to you, but it is all a difference in perspective - the view that people in other parts have of America is for a very large part determined by the media, which, at least in the countries where I bothered to watch, give a pretty narrow and uniform view of your country at times - like I said, every time person A sues person B for $100000000000 it's on the news here, it seems (I just can't imagine it happening more than that).

Well, live outside of America for a few years and you'll know. Preferably in a poor, impoverished 3rd world country without all the lavish shit you can take for granted. It'll do you wonders!

I don't think i'm wrong, and i don't think the majority of the world that thinks the way i do is wrong either. And yes, i'm very glad that 48% of America is smart, intelligent and has brains of their own! Kudos to the 48%!

Not to go too far OT, but GitS 2 was fantastic. What's this about Appleseed? A new one?

Like what Anti said, you guys are receiving a pretty skewed view of our country. You don't think that 52% is intelligent? You don't think doing what you believe in is intelligent? Do you seriously think that the world NEVER misconceives America? May I ask where you live? I don't need to live in a third world country to appreciate my living situation, who are you to judge that? Let me say that I've at least traveled to a few third world countries and I realize how fortunate I am to live where there is at least the opportunity for a rich quality of life. I'd like to know why your choice word is "insane" as well. Does the glamourous stereotypical American lifestyle not look appealing?

BTW, I'm one of those 48% and am still insulted that the "other" half of my country is being attacked. You must understand that this country is like any other, we are fed the same propoganda as you are, how this country is divided up shows exactly how we digest it. Yes, you are misinformed no doubt about it. Yes, obviously most of this country is actually scared of terrorism, most of this country wants to keep their "puritan" way of life forbidding change such as the definition of marriage etc, stuff that you and I may call stupid, but people are who they are. Their ideology is not so different than the America-hating world, what you're exhibiting now, they're both forms of intolerance! I believe that TOO often America is held to a double-standard when it comes to intolerance. Are we supposed to be held to a higher standard? What you don't understand is that no matter how rich or poor, from whatever ethnicity, everyone in the world just tries to live their lives the best they can and Americans are no exception. We work with what we're given. Because of this, the more hostility we receive over matters we have little control over, the more Americans become intolerant of people like yourself.

Edit: Also, you're attacking all Americans by attacking our infamous "lifestyle" not just those stupid 52%. I believe you're one to hate our "lifestyle" regardless of the war and the current administration which says more about you than it does about "us."

So, you are saying that just because I supported Bush that I am unintelligent and I don't have a brain of my own? You're a fool if you think you know everything about me just because of the person I supported to be my leader. You're also making and ass out of yourself by ASSuming you know everything about that 52% who agreed with me, and apparently Bush. You are too quick to judge us. I watched the debates, and I thought Bush was the better choice. Don't call me stupid just because you don't agree with me.

I will agree. I have a LOT of smart friends... but most of them voted for Bush. While I definitely don't agree with his politics, I can't call my friends stupid (although I do think their views on what makes the world a safer place is very skewed -- it's Texas though, where a lot of people still prefer to kill thier own dinner).

You are right that living abroad DOES in fact change your perspect, there's no doubt about it. It's a fact of living aboard, but it's not a requirement by a stretch. Shit, moving from a few parts of America can pretty much have the same effect. I went to churches in a few ghettos as a child (i'm not joking) which also opened my eyes.

To conclude, rhere are plenty of tree huggers in America that have never left the states, and vote Democrat.

Sorry guys, but as far as pollution goes, our forgien friends are right. This administration has effectively gutted the EPA. Not just Kyoto (which was a campagin promise I might add.) The EPA is no longer an effective institution. They can't even levey effective fines anymore. Do a couple of googles about the changes in enviromental law since 2001, tell me what you find out.

That doesn't mean there is more pollution though. But, we do produce 25% of the world's greenhouse gasses (and also have 25% of the world's economy, so you can see why they were never serious about Kyoto in the first place. He still LIED though.)

There are seriously polluted areas in nearly every country on Earth, so it's not just us though. Still, you'd think we'd want to lead by example and all.

As bad as some things are, and as many problems as their might be in the US. It still beats the hell out of any other country on this planet. I know alot of non-americans will be annoyed at that statement, but its the truth. One of the greatest parts of america is that the borders are open and anyone is welcome to join this country. As american citezens we pretty much enjoy the top notch of everything. And have civil liberties that other countries simply dont have. You can enter this country, and make any kind of life you want for yourself. Our infastructure is 10x better than the next best infastructure on earth. Our scientists are at the forefront of technology. Our medicine is the best in the world. And even just geographicaly, the United States has a little bit of every type of climate on this planet. People who prefer warm and tropical climates can live in the southern US like florida. People who like colder climate (for some reason) can live in northern alaska. And various climates in between. Even desert, in the southwest. I dont think any other country in the world can say that.

Overall, the quality of life in the US is better than anywhere else. If you're not an american, you just dont know any different. Your acustom to your normal life in your respective country, and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable on this, but I ask you, why are there greencards and why is there complaining about "mexicans stealing our jobs" ?

SOME other countries. Patriot act ring a bell? It's hardly like your country is top of the list in civil liberties.

So that is why nobody seems to take the train/bus, or hardly as much as in, for instance, European countries?

But you pay through the nose. And from what I've heard from other US members, the litigiousness has pretty much screwed the medical profession.

Like there's some scale of "bestness" that countries can be lined up on, and America is at the top. Oh please.

You can be arrested for no reason, held without due cause, and have your phone lines tapped without needing court permission. Yeah, your liberties are just fine.

Based on what evidence exactly? How the hell can you compare overall "infrastructure" on such a qualitative basis? You have expensive health care, little public transport, and an increasingly privatised educational system. What exactly is it about this that makes it the ten times "better" than anywhere else in the world?

True enough, though by no means exclusive to the States.

Sure, but can't you move around wherever you are? Why the need to stay only in one country?

Touche - because you're American, you have no way of knowing that your quality of life is better than every other country on the planet. You just can't make that assumption, even if you've travelled to one or two other countries, because you don't know them all.

Ah, but where your argument falls down is the fact the UN are "obviously" Anti-American by the fact the US isn't #1.

I don't hate the "lifestyle" of Americans, i just feel sorry for you guys for clinging on to it like that is the only way we can and should live...and spreading that propoganda to the rest of the world. I for one LOVE the lifestyles of American tree huggers!

Bush good at debating? I guess you haven't seen the other giberrish half that came out of his mouth. He's just a monkey with an earpiece. Real masterpiece that guy.

One of my exact thoughts. First oil, and only God will know when other countries will be attacked for fresh water, clean soil and fresh air.

Do you know that almost all non-Americans (even some of your fellow Americans) are treated almost like criminals/terrorists (just because you may look like one, also depending on your race etc) when crossing the border? Finger prints, photographs, questioning just to enter the country. Open borders and free to join? My ass.

So can your scientists repair the ozone layer and make all the garbage disappear? How about making global warming, pollution a thing of the past? Hell no if living a "glamourous stereotypical American lifestyle" continues.

Best medicine in the world? Ha! Mind explaining having one of the highest rate of heart attacks, obesity, cancer etc in the world? And importing drugs from Canada to avoid paying thru your nose? Seems like the government sure is taking care of the sick without profiting. Also FYI, Best medicine is not Ameri-cure, it is prevention. :smt043

    Haven't you heard of China?

If you're measuring it using how many fancy cars, big houses, nice clothes, fast food etc you can have/consume in your life...then i would not argue with you.

And i also agree with everything AntiPasta, Alchy said on their latest posts.

The comments you posted ryangassxx make me understand why people from other countries think we are arrogant.

The comments you posted vegi-saurus make me understand why people here believe people from other countries like to bitch about the US just for the sake of bitching.

Picking the most extreme points to your argument and ignoring the rest doesn’t change minds or further the discussion.
