That doesn't really look like a classic xbox live supporting thing. But your welcome, and these links are somewhat interesting I think most of us are now in a "reading code" phase. some actually make code at this moment, seem to be some "spoofing" or "emulating" authentications. Not sure how far from actually a "connected" xbox that is, I mean, if one would have a title-server fully setup, would that "emulating" be enough to pass the key to a title server? My connection to IRC got lost last weekend, but there seem to be people there, hop on, maybe people share interesting things there. Ive seen Borman releasing some sweet Xbox classic prototypes so maybe im kinda distracted.
How far are you guys from supporting actual logins with an Xbox?\ Another thing is that if you want to get actual games working on this Xbox Live, I would suggest working on games with match browsers such as the Call of Duty games first or at the same time. Although games like Halo 2 are in more demand, I believe that making to the master-server for those types of games would be easier than the matchmaking severs for Halo 2 and other games. This way we can have some games to play while waiting for Halo 2 and other big games.
Anything with system link support can already be played online via XLink Kai, this includes Halo 2 & the Call of Dutys.
I noticed now on my rgh 360 that system link online can be done all through the xbox itself now without requiring pc, i played some call of duty black ops 2 and 3 online over it last week
Is this still being worked on? Or is it a lost cause? There are a lot of people in the Xbox Kai discord community and on /r/originalxbox who would be willing to help in any way possible.
Not lost cause, time and willingness to work on it I think. Not sure how far others are. Im busy with personal stuff (Thesis)... fuck And certain bits are more complicated than others. I havent seen the halo2 titleserver stuff yet, so not sure how far a game will go anyway when we have Live services working.
Just found this post tonight and I am not much for coding but by my estimates it will probably be at least another year before any actual services are working besides MAYBE log in services. However that is based on what the current work load seems to be. If the people working on it(who are awesome for doing any work on it at all) find more free time to work on it there could be faster results but that is the biggest thing, having time to actually work on it. If I had any idea what I was doing I would be more than happy to contribute. I can however offer to help test anything that has been compiled into a testable form. Really hoping this thread won't die it has been an amazing read and given me a lot of hope.
Just one quick suggestion. For account creation, make a website where you input your e-mail, username and password, than the website could create an account and assign data such as credit card info, postal codes and phone numbers so that the data can be entered into account recovery on the Xbox Dashboard and the account can be downloaded.
While I can see some functions for this, not sure for what purposes anyone would need that without live multiplayer. When someone does indeed have some multiplayer server stuff running, im sure account management would be dealt with. how and if free is totaly depending on who would make such a "title server" Just code to let an xbox signin to your server and/or fake some auth and recovery of "fake" accounts probably comming anyway, if that is required by making working title servers. From what ive been told by the birds, code like that does excist. but more important is if we can implement an authentication that is compatible with the xbox as a client, to "our live servers" and a title server... and this last thing, is the harder part (explained many times before by more informed people) because the system and probably wanna multiplayer gamers are very dead/litle in numbers, I think a server that is run by donations/regular payments based on "opensource" code would be the best option. then you just need some kind of account on such a "server" and do a recovery anyway, or register an account while the xbox is connected to said server. Not sure if we want/can reuse exsisting live acounts (ive "donated" 2, but not sure if the remaining ones are of any use) probably gonna implement such a thing anyway. When someone has this athentication thing going. We still need titleserver code. (not sure how much is availeble of the Halo2 one btw, or where) and thats just a game.. we want more games is it not ? we are not done yet. (and for PSO, just copy one of my live accounts, or hack the game... or help by hacking that memory card "live account" encryption part) TLDR: Lots of text here, no progress on my side.
0 But if we get sign-ins working, could we only sign in on the Xbox Dashboard/supported game or could we sign in on every game?
