I should have phrased that better... yes you're right, microsoft wants you to be able to mod your console. They don't want you to pirate the games using mod chips. I was strictly refering to piracy in my previous post.

Why when somebody says something about modchips the only thing that comes to mind are pirated games?

Damn I dont even have DC pirated games, and you dont need a modchip for those!

I recently got an xbox and I added a modchip to run XBMC and emulators. Every Xbox game I have is 100% original, the only reason why I went with the modchip was for applications MS should offer with the console.

I would add a modchip to my x360 if that helps me to bypass those pesky apps assembler was talking about. That and emulators....

And about the programmers breaking their necks coding until 4am, well I think the meager salaries and the crunch work hours are a bigger theft than any pirated game. After all, the execs that make those decisions make the anual earnings of a programmer in just a day.

Emulators + Roms = Piracy none the less. Those that do pirate crap just dont talk about it around here, we could care less what you pirate if we never know about it. This community isnt about pirating and all that, its about being home to the obscure stuff.

Are you calling piracy to play a 15 year old game from a long death console? then when nintendo sells the same game for 40 bucks, what is that? genocide?

And BTW, I'm not "teh hax0r" from the IGN boards, I do have my collection of old consoles, but didnt you think that maybe, just MAYBE I dont have the time to take them out of my closet, disconnect my current systems and connect the old ones everytime I want to play Sonic2 or The Return of Shinobi?:110:

Dude, for real, I havent bought anything pirated in my life, yet I'm being pumped with rushed games and ads in my console, what should I do? keep playin like a jerk? honestly...

The fact is, it doesnt matter here if games have ad's in them or whatever it is you're trying to say, as others have stated here. This is a community about obscure stuff, so if you have rom's or pirated disc's keep it to yourself. No need to explain about what you are "pumped" with and just follow the guidelines.

I DONT have pirated disks, alright?

Jesus christ, what you have eyesight problems? I said I dont have them....

And about Roms, well is clearly legal to own them if you have the original cartridges, and guess what? this IS the case...

Ok, there is no more need to dwell on the legalities of rom images and who has or doesn't have them.

Back to the 360, has anyone started working on making black replacement cases?

    My impressions...

    Hello,

I said in the past I won't get a X360 at all after reading this post, well I just got one, changed my mind, that'll keep me going since Sonic Xtreme is a no-go.

Well I have to say I was impressed with the console, first because after walking home with it from the shop, I got bigger muscles (yeah the puppy's heavy) and then because instead of getting one product in the box, I got 3:

    - A console
    - A power supply-radiator
    - A brackground noise maker (I wanted one for so long...)

How's that as value for money!!!

OK enough of the bad stuffs, I really like the console, worked like a charm first time, easy to setup I found, well much easier than a PC. True the interface is a bit confusing at first but since I play a lot on CSS and Trackmania Nations on PC, I'm used to it. Though I would have preferred the simplicity of the gamecube interface.

I got Ridge Racer 6 with it, looks really stunning, very fast and smooth, I never really played with Xbox live before and I must say I'm impressed that a game online is only a few button presses away. I hated the controller when I first saw it but then it feels like a dreamcast one so I'm feeling right at home.

Only downside, I tried to connect my pc to the xbox for the media center thingy it worked very well but then I couldn't play on ridge anymore on line, the game was slowed down like I was playing it on a emulator . So I disconnected my pc and it worked fine again.

Other than that, I'm just waiting for Dead Rising and of course Resident Evil 5

I really enjoy my 360. I bought a Japanese one back in december and had fun with Call of duty only problem was region lock for some games. This last week I was finally able to get a US model and have had a blast with Need for Speed. The game I am very inertested in is Flying Angels due out this month. From the preview shots the graphics look great.

What I have noticed on the 360 is the American version seems to have a louder cd/dvd drive than its japanese counterpart. In the end the 360 is great.

Only thing thats really pissed me off so far is the streaming. Im not going to run XPMCE, I'm still very happy with windows 2k. I got it hooked up to another PC running XP, and all the MP3s needed tags(none of them had it). Most people run XP, allow people to stream video from it MS, that shit is not cool.

I ended up just grabbing the latest build of XBMC, so I dont use the 360 for streaming any media, which would have been a huge convience.

Direct boot to OS with a game disk in would be really nice too.
