mace was made by midway so thats probably why its a bit like mortal kombat and has fatalities, same with war gods, i didnt play this originally but will be getting it when i get a N64 again hopefully in the near future
Fighter's Destiny and Fighter's Destiny 2. It's definitely overlooked in the US, maybe not by Assembler members but for most other people fighters are already a niche and VF is a niche inside of a niche.
Well nobody has name dropped anything here I haven't heard of but then again, Fighters are my favorite genre and there were other interesting 3d fighters other than Fighter's Destiny on the N64 but again, fuck if I remember Well fuck it was [h=3]Flying Dragon[/h]
N64 may not have had a great fighting game library but it had some decent ones that are overlooked or forgotten today http://www.racketboy.com/retro/nintendo/n64/the-n64-fighting-game-library
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/fighting/the-best-undiscovered-2d-fighters some of these might intrest
Yeah I consulted The Racketboy N64 article to find the game I was thinking of. There was I think only 1 game on that list I never heard of.
Fantastic animation and interesting mechanics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4qgE6-BhsM An odd Neo game that shares qualities with arc system titles.
I don't know if AOF3 counts fighting fans know about it but it wasn't that well received when it came out
Ehrgeiz is good I just said what anyone else would say upon hearing about. that it's just that game with FF7 characters, not that it has merits of it's own
There's very few overlooked actually good fighters. The vast majority mentioned in this topic are either rather bad games, or just old. Games that had their time but have not stood the test of time, but were in no way overlooked. With few exceptions mainly being very niche and only released in Japan. I feel Red Earth is quite overlooked but for a very good reason, a fighting game with RPG elements only released in small quantities in arcades on the notoriously awkward CPS3 board. Rather than the usual Capcom/SNK/Sega thing of releasing arcade games on consoles (even when the game never started as an arcade game) this time they did the opposite and released what should have been a console game in the arcades. Haha then again there are some Doujin fighters which are far better than they have any right to be, Eternal Fighter Zero being one. A chibi anime girl fighter with a cast made from Visual Novels shouldn't be as good as it is haha.
Groove on Fight, similar to but better than Guilty Gear imo and unknown to a lot of gamers. It caught me by surprise.
Raging Fighter for the game boy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnNxG7w96EA Konami actually developed instead of merely porting a great fighter for the classic game boy. It's unfortunate that other, known ports managed to sell better based upon their franchise. Good animation and great music are just two of it's features.
