Panasonic Q and the service disc

I have had a few Panasonic Q's in the past and I used to have a original copy of the service disc 2 to allow you to change the region of the DVD player. But I sold it a few years back when a guy offered me a deal I could not refuse. I have located a website that does sell the original copies of the disc but they are 50 british pounds plus shipping to the USA is just to much for this project.

Does it have to be a original copy of the service disc 2? The gamecube and the DVD player have different hardware and even if the gamecube was modded that would not help because it does not use that hardware for the DVD player. So I wanted to see if anyone has tried to use a copy of the service disc 2 and if they have a copy that I can acquire somehow if it does work.

I also know that it will not support the PAL region. I am in the USA and that is what I am after to start with. I am also looking for the list of components and instructions on how to install the support for the PAL region. That is a great option for the gamecube to have and I know it is possible but not easy.

Hi, I think you could check with bordersdown forum on this matter, I did managed to get a "copy aka burned disc" of the disc 2 few years back, and it doesn't work on the pannyQ, tried entering the "required" steps and code. Nothing works. Thing is after that period of trying , I have chuck the disc somewhere and can't remember where the disc is!

Should I ever find back the disc, and if legally allow, i could upload the ISO image of the disc to those who need it. *mod please advise*

From what I've read online, you need a CD press to actually copy a legit CD because it has data in nonstandard areas of the disc, probably for copy-protection purposes. Might be wrong though.

I recall for the Panasonic Q, after you insert the Panasonic Service Disc 2 on the system, at a certain menu you have to press something like the following *guide me if I am wrong, it was 7-8 year back since I last did it*
How to converting the above players to Multi-Region:

Using the remote controller:
press " setup" button
goto "display" menu
Select "on screen messages" then press enter button
press ">" button (this is the "10" button
press "6"
press "4"
press "3"
press "8"

Password window appears
XXXX
Type : 3192
press "enter" twice
Disc will read and then complete

Now there is also a note pegged to these instructions which says

3192 is for region free dvd playing
3193 is for macrovision disables don't need this if the console has been pal modified

a quick question, is yours the press copy or "burned" copy? Does the above method listed work? Or do advise us otherwise how to enable region free?

 

I believe this is a burned copy using an authoring burner. I'll post a picture once it arrives. The method above matches other guides online, so it should work (but you need the service disc first). It's really difficult to enable region free without the service disc, and i had to spend a lot of time and money to get that information so i don't know if i want to share it just yet.

Just confirmed that the disc is working. When i reach 50 posts i'll consider making a thread to rent it out

 

Long time ago, I helped people mod Panasonic Q. I've the disc same as famiac. Parts need to mod :

1) Update Disc
2) 2x SDRAM (Pal DVD need more ram)
3) Some 104p (I think it is 4pcs, can't remember)
4) 2x PIC chip (One for multi-region, one for JAP/USA mod, no need switch)

After modded it, you have multi-region DVD (PAL supported) and JAP/USA game mode.
But you can not play PAL game.

 

Correct. To play PAL games you need a modchip like the qoob.
The PIC only handles the JP/USA region switching
