I know some of the GC modchips claimed Q compatibility but noone ever reported on installing one. Can anyone suggest a chip which they can confirm as working + install diagrams? I imagine that I'll be looking at a Viper or Qoob but any suggestion that is verified to work is appreciated.

Why mod this expensive machine when a gamecube is $15

Agreed, the Q is my only GC machine and I'd rather have it modded.

You can use a Xeno Chip on the Q and you can also add a region switch.
The Xeno chip needs to be wired installed since the layout is different

If you just set the Q to US per default, you can safely remove the region switch alltogether, as the modchip overrides this feature anyways. The menu will thus always be in English. I removed mine, and still have it around somewhere, not needing this one anymore.

EDIT: I installed a regular Viper into mine.

Hey guys, sorry for bringing such an old topic up, but i was really wondering, I too have a Panasonic Q and I want to modchip it with my recently purchased XenoGC chip.

Does anyone know if there are instructions on how to do this?

Or if anyone can show me the solder points or diagram for the Panasonic Q on where to wire them??

I've been through that and that user claims it doesn't work but then I've read in another forum that someone stated that it does work! Im so very confused. Could he be doing something wrong?

Plus that installation diagram is very small but i can still make it out. Any tips like what wires to use etc.?

Okay I installed and test out the XenoGC modship on my Panasonic Q and I am very disappointed with the results, it doesnt boot up any game whatsoever :(

What could I be doing wrong here?? It reads and plays DVDs but any game including a Freeloader disc just doesnt recognize. Just as jinn said here it can be installed thus implying it works. Does the chip need to be updated to work the Q or something??

Is this your first time installing a modchip? Not sure what else to suggest besides check your points over and over again, I have no experience with the Panasonic Q but on a regular GC if it isn't installed correctly it can cause problems such as not booting discs. I doubt the chip needs updating.

For GC modchips usually 28 or 30 AWG is recommended.

This Was my first time installing this modchip and i can assure you that it was a decent/clean soldering job. I can also see that i am getting a red led light constantly.

This could be a problem though but i did use a kaynar 5awg wire for this. The only other option i have is a 20awg wire sitting next to me.

Just because the light is on does not mean it is installed properly...

    More info:

No offense, but plenty of times on this forum people have written "my soldering is fine" and then it ends up that after redoing some points it ends up working. It's also possible that the diagram is incorrect. Double and triple check everything. It could be a variety of factors.

5 awg would be very thick, are you sure it's 5? If anything I would try with the 20 awg.

You could just go for the Freeloader disc on the Panny Q, that what I did and I have a spare copy too. Hit me up if you require it.

I never got around to modding my Q, so I'm afraid I won't be of any help
