Okay I tried soldering it with the 20AWG and stopped that pretty early on since the wire was too thick to use and it actually started ripping off the traces on the actual board which is worrying and annoying me! :(

I then proceeded using another wire which was thinner soldered with that, it was abit messy but I think I got there at the end, now when testing it out not only it's not working again but i am getting no sounds! FFS! :(

Hello guys! How is everyone doing?

I'm still having no luck in getting the XenoGC chip to work on the Panasonic gamecube! Isn't there any way to get in contact with jinn? It seems he hasn't been around the forums in a long time :(

I would like to help but I don't know much about the Q. I've never seen one before let alone modded one.

Do you still get no sound when you revert it to stock? If so, you may have damaged a trace carrying audio.

    Revert to stock?

The modchip is still inside but recently when I turned it back on for the first time since I miraculously got sound!

Jinn says he/she managed to get the XenoGC to work on the machine, but I cant seem to find any evidence on this nor could I get in contact :(

So sound is working again? That's good to hear!

Revert to stock is when you remove all mods and return it to the way it was when it came out of the factory.

Hopefully you can get a hold of Jinn and see what you need to do. If I may ask, what you want to do with the modchip?

I've tried installing a Xeno GC in a Panasonic Q without any success. Best bet is to go with a Qoob chip instead.

Well the modchip is installed to obviously play imports and backups of games, as well as enabling all regions for DVDs (which is super handy for anyone these days!).

I checked out jinn, the user hasn't been online for months! :( How was he able to do it???

Even if the Xeno works (and I have found no concrete evidence of that being the case, only people - including Jinn - posting that it "should work" based on the solder points on the Q drive board), the DVD player on the Q is essentially separate from the Gamecube section, so it wouldn't enable proper region free DVD playback. And it's a terribly dated DVD player anyway (understandable given that it's over ten years old).

If you want to enable imports, there should be two jumpers for Japanese and American modes, like on a standard GC. Simply wire a SPST ON/OFF switch to the American mode jumper and mount it somewhere on the case. You will need two memory cards, one for Japan and one for USA/PAL. You can then use a boot disc for PAL games when in American mode. You would need the switch if you get the modchip working.

As for region-free DVD playback, I recommend getting a modern region-free DVD player with HDMI output.

Are you saying this is a workaround to just to enable imports on the machine? or for the XenoGC chip to work?

Since i am from the UK I personally want PAL games to work on the fly, thus the need of a modchip.

I would get a Qoob so badly for this but they just (as far as I know) don't sell them anymore, nor could I find them anywhere! Could I be wrong???

    I'm not sure about Qoob.

The switch works without the modchip. You will only be able to play NTSC-J and NTSC-U games with it though. A boot disc would let you play PAL games on it as long as you stay in American mode. It's highly recommended for a modchip since some games won't work properly without being in the correct language mode.

If you can't get a modchip for it, you could always do what I'm going to do. Get a PAL GC for PAL games and install the switch in my NTSC-U GC for NTSC games. Simply swap the power cable around when you are going to use either one. Just be mindful about the video outputs. The PAL video cables require more components than the NTSC cables.

Yeah...I think I really need the modchip to work for my Panasonic Q. This really needs to be resolved.

Like I said before, I don't know much about the Q. Hopefully someone on here with more knowledge about the Q than me can help you solve it.

Well I have read somewhere that someone copied over the 'libraries' from a Qoob chip and placed them into the XenoGC...or something like that inorder for it to recognize the drive or hardware that the chip is placed on???

I might be able to get hold of a few Qoob SX chips.

But how??? I couldnt even find them myself!

If we can somehow replicate the success of jinn in making the widely available XenoGC modchip work on the Panasonic Q, it would defeat the purpose of obtaining a now obscure modchip at inflated prices! :)

Ok fellow Q owners, I've recently acquired and repaired a Panasonic Q and been looking for modding info for a few weeks. Here is my research results thus far:

I found a qoob pro and ordered it from here
    http://www.lgashop.com/upgrade-modchip-console-upgrade-modchip-game-cube-c-42_80_33.html

I found a walkthrough For disassembly and qoob install here. It's in German but you can use google docs or copy paste text to translate it.
    http://home.planet.nl/~baart201/PanasonicQ.pdf

I've contacted dvdchips.uk to obtain info or a mod for the all region hack/mod that lik sang used to use but haven't heard back yet.

Hello my fellow Panasonic Q owner!

How on earth did you manave to find that website that sell the Qoobs??? Had i known i wouldn't have wasted my money on the xenoGC! :( But somehow i am still determined to get it working...it surely must!

I have also came across that German PDF awhileee ago, it will be very handy if i was to install the Qoob.

My worry now is that i might've messed up the traces and solder points on the board which ended me guessing where to put a couple of the wires to.

Im pretty good and finding stuff, just have to keep digging :)
If you have traces damaged, put a jumper wire between the starting and end points of that trace. Check for continuity with a multimeter and remove the xeno.
If full functionality is restored without the mod and traces repaired, order and install the qoob.
