You can use a Logitech Harmony for basic DVD features. For Panasonic Q specific feature, you need the original remote. There should be a way to clone the original. I saw som remote cloning done with Arduino, maybe that would be a way.
Harmonys have a feature to record and playback button presses. You just need the original remote to press the button so the logitech can learn it
@BenjmainLSR or @Slypty, would either one of you be interested in modding a Panasonic Q and potentially refurbish? This topic has alot of information about the service disc and making the Panasonic Q region free: https://assemblergames.com/threads/panasonic-q-and-the-service-disc.51835/ The iso file for the disc was shared by famiac: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B14RXpId-XGTRTlaalNRZ1I3bUE/view Here's an image with the needed control inputs for use with the service disc, also by famiac: Here's an manual for enabling PAL playback, shared by JATO: https://manualzz.com/doc/4383990/panasonic-sl-gc10-dvd-multimod This link has instructions on how to switch the menu to English, and translations for the remote control, also by JATO: https://www.gamefaqs.com/gamecube/915781-gamecube/faqs/21988 Menu to English: Remote control translations: Not sure how much extra RAM is needed, or if there needs to be some specific SDRAM for the mod, but I guess you extract two RAM chips from an SDRAM stick and solder them according to the guide? On a separate note, I was wondering if someone would be able to 3D print a base/case for to use beneath the Panasonic Q with the normal Game Boy Player?
How about the microcontroller? It would be good to have a bit more information on that, although I'm guessing it may not be strictly necessary for PAL playback, it would be nice to enable the features mentioned in the pdf.
@Marmotta I sent you a PM a while back. I saw that you were interested in installing a WODE in the Panasonic Q, and I was wondering if you have given that a try yet, and if so, how it turned out?
No, but I'm trying to get hold of a WASP Fusion to try out. I'd be fairly optimistic about it, though, as the Gamecube motherboard is largely identical to the regular one, which is why Viper and Qoob chips work, but the Xeno GC doesn't.
I just received my Panasonic Q today and I want to put an "automatic" switch like those modified by Lik-Sang (by holding the power button), someone would have a tutorial? I think that it is necessary to put a small chip (microcontroller) ?
Maybe Try this if you cn't get anything else to work.. http://www.multiregionupgrades.co.uk/trade/panad2.htm I have not tried this but they claim legit copies ..
While this thread has been brought back from the grave, are these worth picking up? I've seen some go for about 100 bucks from Japan on eBay as "untested" if anyone knows common issues with them I may gamble on it. Would need a fresh xeno installed though if they are compatible.
