on last nights pawn stars Pat The NES Punk tried to sell his NWC gold and grey to the pawn shop
but demanded full value for the carts of $35,000 for both

chumlee offered a max of $12,000 for both takeing into account profit and time on shelf Pat could of gotten 20 maybe 25 for both

but no he made a full jackass of himself by only comeing down to $32,000

if he wanted full value he should of sold on fleabay

I've seen this show when I went home to the UK last year. It's about the family run Pawn shop in the states, right? The one I saw had some guy trying to sell a British World War 2 gas mask for a baby but they turned it down because it was too creepy.

Are there any links of Pat making an ass of himself?

Pat's throat dropped when the guy was handling the gold cart lol. I'm sure this was just as much about being on the show and having some unique items to feature as it was about Pat making money. For sure if the guy offered him the right deal by all means he might have took it, but Pat knows just how much these carts are worth and isn't going to ripped off by someone who isn't even a collector. I don't think he's lost anything from going on this show besides maybe getting some more greasy finger marks on his gold cart, but I can understand why this sale never happened as the guy now has to shift two obscure carts he doesn't necessarily care about. These sales take time, if Pat wants the money I'm sure he'll find a collector one day.

    Oh Pat, ya dumbass.

Either he has no idea how pawnshops work, or he was simply looking for an opportunity to be on TV and get his 5 minutes of fame.

More like free advertising that he's trying to sell it.

He wasn't being an idiot. He was getting publicity. He's hoping to find someone to take the carts off his hands for as much money as possible. I'm sure anyone would want to atleast get back the money they spent on them but also want to get as much as they can for it. I've heard others suggest that maybe he's worried about being stuck with them when ultimately the value of them plunges. Or maybe he's just in need of money though I don't know how you spend thousands on one or two videogames and then end up in need of money. I'd think if you bought them like that you should probably be pretty secure.

personally just think it was to get some attention to pat. doubt he honestly was trying to sell them. they needed to get some "gamer" crowd. Pat has owned those for a while and doubt he'd ever sell them.

Can you really blame him for trying to get publicity?

Others have said it, but I don't see how he's much of an ass here. It's good publicity to show he's selling them. That one guy who came in gave him an honest appraisal that the guy behind the counter should have been listening to more. Seeing him say "you know what, I gotta think about how long these will sit on my shelf..." is the kind of thing you use to try to get desperate sellers to cave in. Pat wasn't about to be had with such stupid tactics.

If the pawn shop got it they would have put them up for display for the same prices that guy who came in appraised them for, no doubt about it. Not sure how not caving in to that for your entertainment means he's an ass.

If he's simply looking to sell it, then all he needs to do is put it on ebay and mention it on his YouTube channel or website. With how rare those carts are, it's always news on various video game websites whenever one is listed, especially when it is from an internet personality (or as most people would know him, the guy from that one AVGN episode). Most people watching Pawn Stars probably don't give two shits about retro video games, him, or the carts themselves. Does he expect some millionaire retro video game collector to watch the show, see what he's trying to sell, and contact him with an outrageous offer?

He doesn't need to go on TV to raise awareness, that's just wasting his time (unless he REALLY wanted that 5 minutes of fame). Besides, I could have told him that was going to happen. It doesn't take a genius to know that pawn shops don't give you 100% of the items total worth, or even what you're looking to get half the time. They're trying to make a buck, not start a complete NES collection.

I don't have anything against Pat. I called him a dumbass in a lighthearted, joking tone but I suppose not everyone would read it as that (I miss the old smileys...). I just don't see the point in going on a televised pawn shop show to get low ball offers simply for attention when he already has an internet presence that would spread the word for him.

Pawn Stars, just like the other reality tv shows on tv, is staged.

I'm certain that the producers reached out to Pat and suggested he try and "sell" a collectable item on the show. It's mutually beneficial - viewers of the show get to see a seemingly mundane item that has crazy value - no doubt sending them all off to check the old NES games in their attics - and Pat gets to raise his profile.

All these shows - X Factor, Hardcore Pawn, Toddler's and Tiaras, etc, are all loosely staged like this to inject drama and controversy and other little details to keep the show interesting and satisfying to the viewers.

This is exactly right. Producers needed a segment for the show and probably contacted Pat, gave him an appearance fee etc.

My fav reality show vintage gaming moment remains the nes 001 fiasco on storage wars, funny stuff.
