To simplify all that, the ONE and ONLY setup not available by current hardware is: Supergrafx plus LD-ROM. No SGX module was released for Laseractive.
Got myself a PC Engine Duo-R with the Arcade Pro Duo card for R$600 something like $300 usd. Not a bad deal for an overpriced country like Brazil.
Krikzz, what is the estimated price for this baby? Since i need to find some cash, since I bought a Ferrari flashcard
Krikzz said it would be priced similar to the EverDrive MD. Not the new Mega EverDrive, but the original one.
It will be like the recent ED? OS and FW files inside the SD card? What about loading time? And it's using Flash memory like original genesis everdrive or ram like the n64 ED?
Loading time should be really quick because the CPU is fast (7mhz) and on average the games are not very large. Smaller than MegaDrive games usually. I'm pretty sure he said it will use Flash too.
turbo ed is flash based cart without ability to load firmware from SD card. loadin speed will be faster than edmd or super ed, cuz games size is pretty small, and cpu speed is very fast. average reflashing time 5 sec
Like almost every other EverDrive. Using a Altera USB Blaster ($10 on eBay), 10 pin connector, and Quartus II software. The only EverDrives that load OS/FW from SD card are ED64v2 and MegaED. SD2SNES also loads from SD card as well. As you see the more expensive ones do it. My guess is that KRIKzz is trying to keep Turbo EverDrive price down.
So far have you faced any incompatible game? some game that will only work with the original hu-card and not with turbo ED?
No I don't, but like KRIKzz said I wouldn't bother getting one unless a FW update comes out. The Super EverDrive has never really had a firmware update and runs perfectly fine. My guess is KRIKzz is going to try and make sure the Turbo EverDrive firmware is very stable. Maybe he can send a handful of carts out to some Beta testers that can flash the firmware themselves.
I kind of doubt there would be much problems with Turbo ED since HuCards have relatively little going on. Just different ROM sizes and a few different mappings to them. Can't wait to get it though.
