That's the thing. They publish them, not develop them. They could develop some great original IPs but all we get is the same stuff year after year with the odd one or two new ideas.

They also, like Sega, sit on their greatest IPs. Where's the new Wave Racer or Pilot wings. Where is the new F-Zero? Sega made the last and best one after the original game. Why aren't Nintendo thinking about this? F-Zero looked amazing on the Game Cube. Jut imagine what a Wii-U title could be like.

Unlikely , they will just continue to sell to the same core audience.

I want a used one, but $220 is still too much for basically a dummy android tablet and several wiis bolted together.

Sorry, I found it a bit ironic that you were complaining about Nintendo using its mascots and then went on to praise non-Nintendo consoles for having a third entry in a series and a game that uses a widely used mascot.

It's called Pilotwings Resort, and it is on the 3DS. It was a launch title, in fact. As for F-Zero:

Though, again, irony: You just complained about Nintendo's lack of new IPs and then bemoaned Nintendo not making new entries in specific established series.

As for Nintendo and complaining about them not making original IPs:
On one hand, as a fellow Sega enthusiast from when Sega was actually a good gaming company (a console maker), I can understand where you're coming from. It's frustrating to consider that Sega would consistently make new IPs and that now that level of creative output is nonexistent from the 1st parties.

However, I also remember during that time, that whenever Sega put out a new console all the fans would clamor for familiar franchises. On the Saturn we all wanted a new Sonic game. On the Dreamcast we all wanted a new Panzer Dragoon, Burning Rangers, etc. Despite the constant complaining about the "lack of new IPs", I can't remember a time when hype surrounding a big announcement went along the lines of, "OOoohhhh, a hope it's a completely brand new IP with some creative gameplay," no, even in the Sega days folks were mostly excited by the prospect of new entries in their favorites series.

That said, I generally don't understand the whining about Nintendo and the lack of new IPs. On one hand, they frequently use familiar mascots to make new games (Kirby's Epic Yarn, Star Fox Adventures, and Captain Toad come to mind). In the aforementioned examples, Epic Yarn and Star Fox Adventures both started off as new IPs (Prince Fluff and Dinosaur Planet respectively), but then were branded with familiar mascots. On the other hand, they actually do make new IPs as much as the other first parties do. This generation Nintendo has made Splatoon, Pushmo, Codename S.T.E.A.M., Box Boy!, HarmoKnight, and Steel Diver (and possibly more I'm not recalling off the top of my head). They've also invested in publishing new IPs such as Wonderful 101, Sakurai Samura, Devil's Third, and Dillon's Rolling Western. They even went back and made a new Pikmin, which prior to its announcement was another one of those "I hate that Nintendo doesn't make new IPs, why don't they make a new game in series x?" games.

I mean, OK, yeah, Nintendo will make a Smash Bros., Zelda, Mario Kart, and Mario game on every console. Why? Because they sell consoles and millions of games, Nintendo is a business and they would like to make money at the end of the day. Maybe if Sega had consistently tried something like that, they'd still be around (OK, Sega of Japan was so moronic it's unlikely anything could have saved them other than having completely different leadership).
