Yeah but its just obvious that it wouldnt run a game like Return Fire's 3D without expansiuon etc.

Well, who says that Prolific are the owners? They might be the publisher, but there was also GT and I believe the game was originally by Silent Software.

Yeah, wants to make a CD-R and artwork and charge for that - which I don't agree with. And of course, he can't put any Sega logos or Saturn on the artwork.

My point is that if they are still not replying to him (that was the status when I last talked to him at least), then it is because they are not interested. Technically, Sega could have something to say about it, too. They probably wouldn't bother, though.

I am sure that the copyright owners are well aware that people would want to play the game - they don't need a petition to tell them that, and I don't think it would accomplish anything. They are more likely to hit a situation where they either might worry about their contract with Sega, or get greedy and prefer to try and release it officially themselves.

@Retro: It's o.k. if you dislike that petition but it becomes boring to read your postings.
If you're so concerned about legality and copyrights you should think about changing your Avatar first. ;)

    I don't get it.
If he wanted to release it to the community why didn't he just do an anonymous leak.
Wouldn't even have to be anonymous in case he wanted props. I don't remember Belokk or anyone here that helped get PA released getting in trouble.

I appreciate that everyone wants to stay on the right side of the law, but when we're talking about a scrapped Saturn game, the chances of the company caring by this point is pretty low. Oh no, someone leaked a game we thought was too crap for release on a console that's been dead for over 7 years...

Obviously, if he wants to print it, make covers for it, sell it etc, that's a slightly different thing. The very fact that they've ignored him though, to me would suggest they don't care - if they did, they'd make damn sure and email him back.

Mr. Saturn doesn't leak the game because Prolific Publishing knows that he's the only one having the release candidate version - actually that one disk is the only PAL version in existence.

Prolific Publishing said that they will kick Mr. Saturns ass if he'll spread the game before they give their allowance. As their o.k. needs such a long time we hope to speed things up with this petition. Thanks for your support.

    Fair enough, signed.

I know, reading's such an effort, isn't it.

  12. You mean aside from the fact that it went from "Belokk will be ripping the GD" to "Belokk and assorted high-profile warez goons will be ripping the GD" to "One or more of the assorted warez goons wanted to be the first to release the game and leaked it early"?

I signed it, just for the hell of it, although if it's in PAL my effort may have been for naught, but oh well - I'm a sucker for the unreleased.

Although I must say, if Prolific isn't the original publisher or developer and just happens to have landed on the code, your friend shouldn't be worried at all for releasing it - what are they going to to, press charges for him releasing software that wasn't theirs?

Just to clear up a couple of matters...

Ground Zero hit the nail on the head, this is pretty much the only copy in public hands, and Prolific will know where it came from. There would be no such thing as an anonymous leak.

Also, with more than one company involved, one of the others could get funny about a release.

However, I wouldn't be so sure that it was the ONLY PAL copy. That scan was from the official UK Saturn magazine. True, they had import consoles, but this was a review, not a preview. It looks likely that it was a review for the PAL market, and they believed it was completed and ready to be released, so there's every possibility their demo was PAL. Just because Mr. Saturn received a (probably) NTSC copy, doesn't mean PAL copies didn't exist. Believe me, there were games that weren't released, but ready to go, and ready in both PAL and NTSC.

Also, on the format note, I can assure you that Antime hacked this so it will play on any console... as long as you have a method of booting it. And considering the swap trick isn't that hard at all, you do.

Has anyone ever heard of a successful online petition? Maybe I'm just in the dark, but I don't remember a single one.

If you don't like Retro's posts, ignore him - a feature of the new board. Not difficult. And his avatar is legal. Fair use parody and not-for-profit, so nothing is gonna happen.
