Very interesting, thanks for sharing with us!

Is it true that Germany plans to run most of the country on renewable energies such as solar, wind, etc. by the next few years? I've heard they are even implementing or working on a new drain/sewage system as to waste less water and add self cleaning ceramic polymer filters to the system to make it more autonomous and recycle more water, among other great energy related projects the government's working on.
Is because of this that they are closing down the coal mines?

A friend of mine has recently been there for a couple of weeks for a seminar on this topic and was stunned by all the things Germany is doing to become independent from fossil fuels, it seems they are going all in for it, which of course might as well raise some big political/economical issues.

yes, what you say is true.solar and wind power are the energy of the future.no CO2 factories more.Other countrys should do the same, especial the USA and China.
the reason why the mines are all closed is that the coal from other countrys like china is much cheaper than the germyn coal.if i hear this,i must laugh, because the coal from china or other countrys is not more than a few cents per 100kg cheaper than the german coal!!

US Coal companies have stronghold in Washington preventing such advancements but they are right on one thing... price. If US switches to Wind and Solar we'd pay 1000% more on energy costs.

Honestly, nuclear is the only viable option, but of course you have the fears and NIMBY mentality of the citizenry not wanting it anytime soon.

I know people want to see more but he's too busy to take pictures, not to mention probably forbidden or too dangerous. You need to be aware of where you are at all times.

Sweet Pictures! It's kinda cool to see how things have changed over years. I remember seeing some pictures of coal mining from the early 1900's and now to see those, it's cool (and in color).
