I highly agree with the decision to require photos of items. One, there can be far less confusion on details or condition, and secondly, everyone's got a smartphone, or access to a camera somewhere at least...taking pictures isn't that hard.

    Wrong dude.

The system would be set up so only the making of a new thread isn't allowed until requirements are met.

While I agree that it should be required that all WTS/WTT items have a picture what I don't agree with is requiring all photos of items under $90 to contain our username, forum name, and date.

Whoops. I actually forgot about the buying aspect. :nightmare:

I still stand on the photo requirement, if you can't be bothered to make buyers feel more comfortable buying your items then don't sell in the first place. It's just an extra layer of security to make the community more safe for everyone. Why is this such a problem?

They are enforced but sometimes it might take us a while to get around to it (we all have lives and can't be here 24/7). If you find something that isn't being enforced you're encourage to click the report to mod button on a post/topic to point it out to us (we get emailed when you do).

As said, we generally do but sometimes go easy on people when the sales threads were made at different times. Yet if a seller throws up 3 topics at once they get a PM about it and asked to fix it or we will butcher the ***k out of their threads to do it your selves. With that said, we still get a lot of flack from people for trying to force this. =(

Most forums I'm on simply allow one sales thread per person. If someone wants to update, they just update the first post and bump, with a daily or weekly limit on bumps to prevent people from trying to monopolize the front page.

It works well because it keeps everything organized and it makes it very easy to see a seller's history on the board.

That's on purpose, so people cannot do stupid things like change EVERY SALE POST EVER to "SOLD REMOVE"

I've pushed for something like this as well but it's going a far and mixed in with what borman said makes it a bit of an issue. if a topic just said "(X) Sales Thread" because you can't change titles then people won't go looking through everybody's sales thread just to see if they have anything of interest.

Well if people can't change the title then it will be more threads created by people , I think we should be able to change the title instead of making a new thread all the time.

Make it a marketplace rule. If they break this, enforce it with a week ban etc.

Problem is it's forum wide permission, so I would allow people to change / gut their posts whole forum.

Then I would have to set permissions (custom) per forum which sucks.

Surely there has to be script/plugin to assist this...

Get someone who knows their way around the VB software to do it then. Or as HEX said, there has to be some kind of autorun script or something for this.

Problem with vbulletin is the plugins often become vulnerable to hacks. Like the "thank you hack"

If you need a topic title changed, pm me or a mod.

I've learned that the few vocal minority cause lot of work if you do what they want.

It's been that way since 2006 and I think it's worked out fine so far thanks.

One active sale topic at a time is OK enough. Reviving an old one after all newer ones have fallen into disregard, fits under that description.

Well that doesn't do us much good, I can see your point there. Would an increase in Marketplace mods accelerate the changes? Some people have PM'd me to do title changes but of course I can only do that in one section :p

We need more mods, the problem is often longtime members or high posters do not equate to what is needed: calm, impartial, and fair moderation.

I have a hard time finding mods who do the work, as it is just that, work.

I'll have to dwell on this some more.

calm, impartial, and fair moderation are my middle names ;) More seriously, I'm happy to take a more active role on this forum, 9 years have I been here, I've realised.
