    Okay then, thank you :D
I did buy the second adapter you posted.
I will need to figure out how to connect the drive to PC (If using PATA) then.
I have an old Windows XP with an IDE port on the roof, I could probably use that one.
If not, I will use some of my sata drives instead :)

Not only that, but it does not have support for Ethernet. Depending on the one that you got, it could also make your PS2 behave strangely (mine cannot be switched off properly) and might not work well with a lot of software.

So far, I have not heard of a perfect clone/compatible adaptor. The best one that I heard of, has working Ethernet support and is for IDE disks, but also stops working when the DMA Enable bit is set separately from the other bits while setting up DMA transfers (bug).

I recieved one of the IDE to Sata adapters today.
I haven't got a chance to test them yet, since I'm still waiting for my Network adapter.
However I noticed something rather strange on the adapter:

One of the small resistors is bridged.
And there are no solder on the Sata female plug leg (There are on the other one though).
Could it be, that the solder, comming from the bridged resistor, should have been on the leg?
Or does this look right to you?
I haven't tested it! But it just seems a little funky to me :D

That does look weird. It looks like an antenna. Maybe the resistor is trying to get those old over-the-air broadcasts or listening to the radio? You could say it's listening to electronic music lol. :)

    ...My puns suck.

On a serious note, the resistor looks like it's been moved out of place. I say remove that solder "antenna" and reseat the resistor.

As for the hole, I'm not sure what it is. It could be a screw hole or a missing connection left out on purpose. There appears to be no traces leading to it so maybe it's supposed to be like that?

It's a capacitor. Most likely it's a human error. Maybe it will work this way too, but that's risky. I'd remove solder.

I would test it first, I've seen things like that on electronics and they end up working fine.

Actually the piece snapped off, after I applied a little pressure on it with my finger.
Leaving the resistor intact (It was a very small push, and it just went off)
I'm almost certain that it wasn't suppose to be there after that :)

Just received another one of my 1$ adapters, this one also have some issues.
One of the legs isn't connected to the board, cause of a poor soldering job.
It's an easy fix, I just wanted to make absolutely sure before I do anything though.
This leg should be soldered on to the board right?

I don't think so. It doesn't look like the trace goes anywhere.

Is that a 3.5" IDE to 2.5" adapter? If so, it's probably for the yellow (12V line) which is not needed on a 2.5" drive.

    It is this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201264212786?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

In order to fit it without an extender, I will need to desolder the power connecter and turn it the other round, or just solder the cables on to it directly.

What do you mean "turn it the other round"? It is in correct position but gap is not wide enough. You will need to extend the gap.

No, I'm not the music artist Mord Fustang but I am a big fan and that's what actually inspired my username here.
