I had won 3X NR disks off ebay, but the seller has "misplaced them" which means some cock has sent a closed offer higher than the auction price. If I don't get them, I am going to rake him over the coals...

Na, no play and charge kits. I have a bunch of batteries left over as it is. Plus, they dont come with crappy ones :D

  3. Recieved yesterday, nice lot of Dreamcast stuff. DC system, hookups, 1 vmu, 2 controllers, 1 fishing control, and an unopened copy of NFL 2K. Only complaint I have is it won't play CD-R's, but no biggie, I only paid $10 for the whole lot.

Got a few games for my mobile the other day. Here's a few screengrabs I took along with some comments.

    Ridge Racer

One of the very early 3D games for mobile phones in Japan. Came out in 2003 and looked shit back then since the phones just didn't have enough power to push the game along at a nice frame rate. thankfully the phones of now run it quite well. However, since it's an old game it still does run at a lowish frame rate at times (20 fps) when new games such as E-Racer run at a sold 30fps with full on transparencies and shit load more on screen. Still, for it's age Mobile phone Ridge Racer is still quite playable. All graphics are there and even has all the same camera problems as the PlayStation original Hahahaha. Mobile version produced by Interactive Brain. Looks like they did a PSX port.

    Densha De Go! 3D

Actually very good. The 3D is solid with a pretty good draw distance. Sound is also pretty close to the original if not a little low. Surprisingly the controls are also easy to get to grips with. Over all a very nice conversion by G.Rev, the same guys who did Border Down on the Dreamcast.

    Chase H.Q. 3D

this game is a pile of steaming cack! Controls are awful !! The car feels really tight then suddenly feels as light as a feather !! Shit ! Don't bother with this one even if it does have the speech in it. Oh, and the pop up is awful as well.

Managed to find a REAL Japanese Mega Drive today. After seeing nothing but the ASIAN version I had given up on ever finding a real Japanese only system but to my surprise I spotted one today while shopping for a customer.

Also got 3 Saturn and 1 Dreamcast game. - Road Rash, Hebereki No Popoitto, Fifa '96 (yeah, I should have my balls cut off for buying this shit but at 25 yen.....) and Street Fighter 3rd Strike on Dreamcast which is still bloody expensive !

Thats funny, 3rd strike is pretty common here at import shops, though the domestic one still fetches quite a bit.

Yeah, in Japan most of the Dreamcast fighters are expensive but for some reason Street Fighter 3rd Strike is one of the worst ! No idea why it's always priced high.

Got my lovely ceramic ps2 today, and it is great, makes the ps2 feel less clunky and more modern. Also very quiet indeed. Hell I got this one because it looks great! Check out the matching arcade stick and controller - sweet.

Also got Heavy metal thunder - which is a cool square-enix game based of a crazy japanese game show, looks pretty damn good and probably one of those games that the west will suddenly pick up 5 years after the death of the ps2. I like it anyway, just for the japanese-ness of it all, and the OST isn't half bad either.

I went to a flea market yesterday, it was quite disappointing in the games department (only NES Duck Tales 2 which I gladly bought nonetheless), but then I stumbled upon a Russian woman selling loads of stuff, and I bought a 1974 USSR workers' medal of some kind and a Komsomol pin (I have a weird appetite for Soviet regalia).

I'll post a picture tonight, as the above description doesnt really do it justice!

Just a little update on the Heavy Metal Thunder - S-E game.

Just been playing it for an hour and all I can say is wow. I am very excited. Don't get me wrong, gameplay is nothing too special but the whole package is truly amazing. Even the manual is done in the style of a magazine with a pull out pin up of a *pretty* lady. Read very sexy indeed.

It is not truly innovative, but it has effort put into every aspect of the game, the movies are truly well done and everything reeks of effort, excitement and fun, if not quality gameplay. I have just been smiling for a whole hour as there is just som much to enjoy about this game. So I say go buy this game now if you have a jap ps2, there is not a chance this will ever get outside of Japan!

As for Japanese level needed, probably a really good knowledge of jap popular culture and some guesswork is all you need to enjoy it. But it is very intense on the Japanese and most of the jokes need solid japanese to enjoy. Still even if you don't understand a thing the sheer crazy-ness of the whole game should make up for it.

Nice, but I can't help noticing that huge speaker next to it :eek:h:! Those could damage your memory card info if it's too close!

Is that so? Didn't know that, how does it damage the card, is it the bass vibrations? Or something else? Please excuse my ignorance.

Oh well I shall switch my tv and Ps2 around, just to be one the safe side. Gives me a better view of the beauty anyway, and should make opening it easier. Thanks for the warning.

Oh you will regret modding it. It just looks great, when you take it from the box and it has no cables inserted, it hits you how small it is. Also other design improvements that are not mentioned that much -

The AV out socket is very sturdy so cables don't wobble about and you get interference, like with the fat ps2. Due to this I notice an increase in clarity using rgd over my fat ps2. It does run hotter to the touch than ordinary ps2, but it gets to a certain heat and then doesn't get any hotter. The lid feels very thin, but it opens enough so you don't have to worry putting discs in and scatching them. Just in terms of design, I think it is very nice all round. It really is very quiet and I prefer not having disc trays to worry about, means it will be easier to clean. Recommended, particularly in this colour, you know if they made a see-thru version I would buy that in an instant.

Back to Mark30001, does speakers damage Memory cards?

I don't think it can. Memory cards are just flash based storage, the same as any USB memory stick, or flash memory card. This electronically stores it so it is not prone to interference. Hard disks and speakers are a definate no-no though, as hard drives store data magnetically, and speakers have beefy magnets in them
