Yeh - hence me snapping it up. If I wasn't a sonic/DC freak I would put it on ebay. Special VMUs were going for £30-50 last week...

I saw an add on TV for that this morning. Looked pretty cool like some high end 16 bit platformer.

Very nice! I always thought the PSP and Gamecube ones were the nicest of them all, except for maybe Vectrex and Virtual Boy... but where could one still find these nowadays?

I would like to have one of these myself, but there's absolutely no space at all for something as big as this.

Went shopping today in hopes to find more stuff for others but had to rush out of Yongsan to the airport. Grabbed a handful Megadrive games while I had time.

    • Gunstar Heroes US version. Mint.
    • Sonic 3 Samsung Korean Version, Mint.
    • Sonic 3 Samsung Korean Version boxed no manual.
    • Mean Bean Machine Korean Samsung Version, Mint.
    • Fifa Soccer 95 Korean Samsung Version, Mint.
    • Kid Chameleon Korean Samsung Version, Mint.
    • Sonic 3D Blast, Samsung Korean Version, Mint.
    • Virtua Racing, Samsung Korean Version, Boxed, no manual.
    • Virtua Racing Japanese cartridge only.
    • Sonic the Hedgehog Samsung Korean version badly damaged label, contains Sonic 1 revision 3 with no level select cheat which is weird.
    • Very Obscure 11 in 1 cartridge featuring SMS games and no megadrive games.

Things I bought recently as most were cheap. :)

Gameking - All most funny, any times, any where.

Chances of me finding the unit in the wild are slim but glad I managed to find one of the games in the wild.

One of the few PC-9821 only games, and one that is in English (sort of...)

PC-9801 CD-ROM version of Links 386 Pro golf. It's as good as I remember with it's 640x480 256 colour graphics. Like most western games converted to the PC-98 it was one of the few games to support the PC-98 version of the Soundblaster 16 card, still have to find a non western game that supports the SB16... :)

Probably one of the least common (dare I say rare) version of Tetris that doesn't get mentioned on a lot of sites, in fact I found a small handful of sites in Japan that mention this version... anyone want to guess the format? ;)

Something to put on the sideboard, a ceramic version of (a slightly chubby) Arle Nadja and a puyo (yes it is an official compile item and yes I did find it in the homewares department of House off...).

Not game related but it was cheap (as it was untested), thankfully works perfectly and I am happy I have a decent tiny unit to create tunes with. :)

Is that for one of those early Sharp/Casio PDA's (B.O.S.S. or Cassiopiea)?
I seem to recall having a similar card-type version of Sokoban that looked just like that...

    @Jamtex
How do you use that Emit? Diskette for the game and CD for the sound support and both medias have to be inserted to run the game or how can one imagine?
And what do you mean by pc-9821 only? Only home PC version?

It will be like the Super Famicom version. The game is on the disc but all audio is on the CD. You play the CD in a normal CD player and press play when the icon comes on the screen. EMIT 1 to 3 is also on the Saturn. 3DO and PlayStation. Needless to say they all have the audio in game.

Ah, always wanted to know how it works on the SFC. :)

I already "finished" all volumes on the Saturn, quite annoying love kitch in there I must say plus the anime sequences are of bad quality (why did they have to mix anime with buttugly render graphics??). The lots of repititions of certain events (to let the player remember) came also quite often, I sometimes felt like watching Teletubbies. Well, in the end I was rather disappointed of this as it was quite a hassle to track down all three volumes in like-new condition for a good price. But still, interesting idea. If Koei had thought about putting more effort into the visual design and the realization of the storyline, this one could have been a really good education game.

But as a matter of fact, its only future use will be keeping 6 more cm in my shelf dust-free

Suprgrfx : It is indeed for a Sharp PDA, not seen it before and doesn't seem to be that common.

Ave : The PC-9821 was a computer format that NEC made that would be backwards compatable with the PC-9801 but be more PC compatable and would run special versions of Windows 95 and Windows 98 (so would run Windows programs fairly well, but still required special versions of Direct X and other codecs).

Very few games were written just for the PC-9821 most were PC-9801 compatable and later ones were written for Windows 95.

Yakumo is half right, the disc is the installer disc and you need to format a disc with DOS then installs the memory drivers, CD-ROM driver, sound drivers and the program itself. The CD-ROM seems to contain .PCM audio files, text files with the written speech, graphics and music tracks.

Found out that the Links 386 golf has the FM Towns version on the same CD-ROM but doesn't mention it anywhere on the box.

Sweet. I thought it looked familiar! ;)
BTW, congrats on scoring that Koei handheld Othello cart. I'd love to have the game + the unit for my collection. I'm a bit of a Koei fanboy. :)
