Post every time you buy/trade something Part VIII

Some new PS2 games over the last week.

Transformers - fantastic because these are the real Transformers. None of that Michael Bay shit. Just a shame the game has tank controls
Sega Rally Championship. Basically the arcade emulated on the PS2. Emulation by M2 so you know it's good. Sadly the digital controls are way too sensitive. Analogue is OK but the Saturn version is far better to play even if this does look better in some ways.
Virtua Fighter 10th Anniversary - Said to be VF arcade perfect but it's not. far less polygons are used in this PS2 game and the lighting isn't as good as well as a few other niggles BUT it is cool to play as the old style characters and as VF4 characters in VF1 style.

Also I modded it for component and now I have a awesome picture on my crt,very close to rgb.

 

So they arrived =] How much did they costed you?
I remember playing Sega Rally and thought the analog controls were very good. Can't remember digital though.
VF 10th anniversary is basicly VF4 Evo with VF1 "style" graphics.

 

Sega Rally was 900 yen as was VF 10th Aniversary. The digital controls on Sega Rally are awful to be honest. The saturn version is much more fun to play but the analogue controls are pretty good. The arcade is very glitchy, isn't it? I'm not sure which version I like more, the PS2 arcade emulation or the Japanese Sega Rally PLUS on the Saturn. Still, thanks for bringing them to my attention. Worthy of any Sega fans PS2 collection.

 

I really like the Saturn version. I think it's one of the best Model 2 ports on the system, next to VF2 and DOA. I really wish Sega had done as many great Model 3 ports for the DC as they had done Model 2 games for the Saturn. It's obvious that the Dreamcast could've handled most Model 3 games, but not many ports were released and most of them weren't very good. Maybe if the DC hadn't had such a premature death, Sega would've eventually released more.

Other machines are DTL-H30002, DTL-H30102 and DTL-50002. £30 each from eBay.

 

Since I now own a PS2 I thought it would be good to start up a collection. Now bare in mind that I know nothing about the PS2 or it's games so it's like I'm a kid again just buying shit because of the cover Anyway, I bought this set of 10 games for 1500 yen so it's no great loss. The games are all in mint condition.

I know that the Maximo games are meant to be total crap. Viewtiful Joe 2 is a steaming heap of dung too because it originated on the Game Cube Only joking, that should be good. I know Basara from the Wii but I have no idea about the others. I've got a set of 100 PS2 games arriving tomorrow. I wonder how many of those will be turds

 

Been on the hunt for a while and I just got these lovely IcedCube full Size Gamecube Cases , One is Purple , Orange and transparent Green I could not be happier with these!!

 

Holy crap! Yakumo starting a PS2 collection! =]

Don't really know Basara games, but i can tell you Death By Degrees is crap lol. Maximo are fun at least.

And you ordered a set of 100 other games ?!?! Now curious to see what games will arrive. Can't wait for pics!

Anyway, if you want to try some good PS2 games, just ask some of us.

 

Here you are. The box arrived last night and as I expected over half is crap that I don't want. To be fair, there are some very nice games in the set I don't want such as quality RPGs or driving games but I have no interest in playing RPGs in Japanese these days unless it's a must have title and as for the likes of Gran Turismo, well..... Driving games are one of the game types that really does benefit from the leaps in modern technology so playing old ones like these isn't much fun. Old arcade style racing games on the other hand are still great fun because of their fantasy world styling.

Anyway, out of the 4500 yen box of 100 games I'll be keeping this lot. Oh, also 3 nice SFC games as a bonus !



And these are the ones going back on to Yahoo. I'll probably get about 3000 yen for this lot due to taking proper pictures and not just a blind auction like the box was when I bid on it.

 

I'm actually quite surprised with the lot itself. Wasn't just a bunch of sports, dating, pachinko and stuff like that. There are some duplicates there, but you'll easily get your money back. You evem ended up getting Virtua Fighter 10th Anniversary again as well. What a coincidence! Still, down here, just one of those games would cost the whole 4500 yen. Japan is a totally different world.

By the way, if you want a GT game for the PS2, get GT4. It is the king really. And i still think it looks and plays great. For arcade racers look out for Burnout 3 Takedown.

 

I guess with over 4000 titles released there's a good chance that any large set will have some games of value in them.

Thanks for the game recommendations. I've heard good things about both of those titles in the past. The problem I have now is where to start in this set of games. I think I'll start with the titles I've never heard of leaving the likes of the Yakuza series and that Kei series until later.

 

Just a shame that games like that Nana there are something I'd be interested in if not for the language barrier. Waah.

Just 3000 yen!? Man, selling them here for even 99 cents each would like double that.

 

I don't really have the time to sell them off one by one so selling a lot is much easier for me. If you'd like you can buy that lot for 3000 yen plus shipping

 

That's still incredible by US standards. Except it'll set me back further from a new video card or etc...
