Does Yahoo Auctions not allow for shipping outside Japan? Or is that your decision? Or is Chrome translate not showing what I wanted it to show?

Yeah, Yahoo Auctions allows overseas shipping but most users don't do it. I'll ship overseas. No problem there.

Ok just got home from work, and tore into the $15 Halo edition Xbox.

First, I never bought an Xbox that had the seals broken. So I went straight to the main board hoping to find a mod chip. No luck.

Next I went to look at the tsop points, and they were already soldered.

So took a look at the hdd, and its got a 200gb maxator drive...

So put the DVD drive and hdd back in, and booted it up. It's got xecuter 2 bios, no surprise since tsop points are soldered. It's also got retail games saved to the disk and emulators. Again, no surprise.

Here's the big surprise. I put in a retail game, and it booted right up. Put in a copy of hexen... And it booted right up!

Bought it for $15 because the DVD drive would not read any games and the guy said he took it apart and tried everything. I was worried he messed something up having it apart, but all seems to work 100%.

He said he just bought it at Goodwill for $39.99 the other day. The Goodwill price tag is still on it.

The jewel is a little scuffed, and two small white scuffs on the top, but the rest is mint. The rf shielding doesn't have a spot of rust, and not a speck dust in the console.

I'm really excited because I never had anything like this happen

Magic eraser should take off the scuffs pretty easy and stuff like brasso or mother's aluminum polish do an amazing job shining up a scratched up jewel.

I'll get around to it this weekend probably. Never was interested in getting the Halo Xbox, but now that I seen it in person, I may just keep this one

Got a Super Comboy with original controllers, original hookups and some SFC carts for $50 BIN. I wanted one of these but the only one I could find was 4x more expensive, in bad condition, comes with less stuff, and ships from Korea. Then I was randomly browsing and found this listing from a US seller; they had it listed as Super Famicom so it didn't show up when I searched.

The only problem is that one of the controllers doesn't seem to work and both controllers have the cords wrapped in tape. I don't know if the wires were damaged or something. I'm going to buy 2 SNES controllers and swap the board/cords out.

I also ordered some cheap SFC carts from Japan (Mario Allstars/World/Kart, DKC, etc). It's been years since I've played SNES; I don't remember the controllers feeling so tiny.

Does anyone know why South Korean consoles come with multi-voltage power supplies? This has a psu with a switch to select between 110v and 220v, and so does my Korean Mega Drive and Saturn. The plugs are the round Euro-style but come with an flat pin adapter that seems like it was screwed on from the factory. Do different parts of the country use different power sources?

Funny that even the av cable is Hyundai branded.

That's a great find! The system looks great. No yellowing at all.

If you google a little bit there are hints that the standard in Korea covers the range from 110V to 220V. It probably depends on the region. Similar to the 50/60Hz thing in Japan.

Same with the plug type. It's mostly the European style round plug but the flat pin style is also used it seems.

I don't have it yet, but there's a very strong chance that I might be getting Bungie's first commercially sold game soon. I'll post again here if/when I get it.

EDIT: Got Super Marathon by the way.

Amazing find! Can you provide a closeup of the Hyundai AV cable? I collect this stuff and I've never seen one.

South Korean consoles from that era have 110 and 220v switches on the power adaptors because the country converted over from a Japanese-style 110V (or maybe 100V?) system to a European style 220V around this time. As it was a HUGE undertaking, it didn't go into effect everywhere at the same time. Adding the switch allowed the consumer to adjust their (at the time fairly expensive) appliance when the change took place for their homes. Nowadays Korea uses the 220V European deep-socket style plugs throughout the country.

Do these consoles support S-video? I know the US SNES does but not sure about others. This console is one of the weird ones that doesn't have RF-out and has a DC-in socket.

Very cool. Thanks for the picture.

I'm fairly certain this is actually not an OEM part but I would still keep it in my collection if I had one. Let me explain. So, the first clue is the spacing in "Hyundai". The company at the time was primarily using this logo: http://images.gofreedownload.net/hyundai-electronics-industries-117580.jpg
On an official product, you'd expect to see something with either that exact trademarked logo, or at the very least a font match with no spacing. Although "Hyun dai" is a romanization of the two syllable 현 and 대, the company itself has always used it as a single English word. If not an officially modified Hyundai product, then the standard SFC/SNES part is often found. I do know that the RF adaptor for Korean NES/SNES machines featured this proper Hyundai logo on it.

There are a number of Korean gray market parts and accessories that look legitimate-ish and are often found interspersed with OEM parts and consoles in the wild. Notable examples would be a Super Comboy power adaptor that has a glaring typo (슈퍼콤보이 instead of 슈퍼컴보이), a poor quality boxed Comboy 64 adaptor that says "Ultra 64" on the adaptor itself (and doesn't quite fit like an OEM part), a number of clamshell releases for the Comboy (NES) that feature Hyundai text but are so different from the standard releases that their gray market status is obvious, and quite a few more examples.

For this cable, I suspect it was a gray market accessory that was either cheaper than the official replacement part, or filled a gap because the company itself did not offer an individually-sold, retail AV cable. This would not be surprising as Hyundai didn't even provide a retail box for the official controllers. When new-old-stock OEM pads do surface, they are always in twist-tied bags, never boxes.

As for your system, it looks like it's in wonderful condition. You've essentially got a 1-CHIP SNES there. If you were to remove the top case, you'd basically have a region-free NTSC machine there that will play US or Japanese or Korean games with no issues (not PAL though, of course). Therefore it should also support S video with no problem. I like to think of these as Korean Super Famicom Jr.s because you've got a very late revision, 1-CHIP board that has had its RF circuitry removed. (Korea never received the redesigned SFC Jr./SNES 2). I personally much prefer the look of this console and one other benefit over the SFC Jr. is that this one should still support SCART with the proper cable and converter/TV. It's like the perfect SNES console, in my opinion.

So .. I got the most holy grail of Nintendo 64 without knowing it!!!! for the cheapest price in the world. this should even be illegal.

I bought this for a very cheap price and I admit that I wanted to resell this to gain some cash for a holy-grail that I`m saving for

ANA console with a box and some games. pretty neat. no booklets or anything else.

Turns out. it got shipped in fairly large box... to big I'd say

I opened up the box and I saw something white this was NOT on ANY of the auction it's text or pictures...:
THE OFFICIAL SHIPPING BOX IN BEST CONDITION DISCOVERED.. only 2 others are known so far
    [IMG]

So compare that with what I bought.. to what I get:
Factory box + Manual with matching Serial numbers and everything else what was on that auction..

So that ... for less then 90 usd (+shipping) best deal I ever made. and prob the best deal that I ever will make.

You found something very special there. You will probably get triple or more of what you paid if some N64 collector is interested in it.
