I'm surprised that there are not more people on here using multi monitor systems.
Mine is a bit of a mess at the moment due to uni work. I usually only have desktop items on my left monitor.

 

Multiple monitors aren't necessary for most people, especially those that weigh electrical cost/practical use. I'm somewhere in the middle, as I prefer to have a computer run one monitor each and turn off the ones that aren't active.

 

I just assumed that since this site has a lot of developers, there would be more people using multiple monitors, but there does not appear to be very many.
An I can always turn off the monitors that I'm not using to save electricity, but I tend to use them all.

Like you say, multiple monitors are not for everyone but developers and gamers tend to use them more than most people. An this site has a lot of gamers and developers.

 

Don't forget audio recording, too. It's super helpful to have the mixer in its own window, MIDI editor in another and the main workspace in front of you. 2 monitors annoys me because of the whole center bezel issue, but 3 work nicely and 4 in an inverted T shape are awesome.

 

I know exactly what you mean. I don't usually do any audio recording, but I had to use the Reason 5 software for one of my modules.
It was a lot easier having the extra space to work with.
2 monitors are not that good for gaming either, but racing games are much better with 3 monitors.
Also for a bit of fun you can do this.

Yes it is Snow Leopard. I have also got Mountain Lion as a VM.
An obviously the monitor on the left has an Ubuntu VM running.

 

Why not go straight for Mavericks? Snow Leopard does have the advantage that it's the last version that included Rosetta.

 

To be honest I don't really like Mac OSX. I only use it for Xcode.

 

The thingy from the top is called ObjectDock, and i use it since 2009... It's pretty sweet!

 

how do you moved the ubuntu bar to the bottom?

 

That is not the Ubuntu launcher.
It is called the Cairo Dock and you can get it from the Ubuntu Software Centre.
My launcher is still on the left side of the desktop.
I have the launcher hidden and reveal it by moving the mouse to the top left corner.

 

Reinstalled XP, should probably upgrade soon.
