Protection money - Anyone pay before?

Hey Everyone,

This is just a random thought, but has anyone here been in a position where they were asked to pay for "protection"? That is, for the store they work in, or otherwise?

I agree with ASSEMbler though; tell your higher-up and let them deal with it.

 

Thanks for the opinion! In the case where you are paying protection to one group and another group comes to shake you down, is the first groups actually responsible to get the other off your back? Or is the word "protection" strictly ornamental?

 

You could always try, however you're probably better off going to the cops.

I would quit the job. You never know when frankie comes in and shoots up the place to get the goons hired to collect the protection money and in the process kills you and other customers in the store.

 

"Protection money"/dumb tickets" etc. bullshit. Is the main reason why I was threatened on my life, and went to court last year. And my answer is: No fucking way in bloody hell would I pay ! But the sucky part of the case, that it had been on TV days before, that "protection money" was something you should report to the police because of different cases that had been going on. But when I reported it to my fucking stupid pig of a local police officer, then he was like "well it is a grey area", the first time he really took notice and a report was when I threatened on my life. and three years afterwards I ended up in court as a witness in this case. I were in periods living "under ground" because of the psychopathic fucker , and well that is the main reason why I do NOT trust the Danish police.. much at all.

 

In FL, you can kill in self defense and not get arrested. I have never been a situation like this but it's nice to know that I can own a gun and protect myself and not completely rely on the police...

 

What store did you work for? Was the location particularly bad? How much did they want from you?

 

It was NOT a store, it was a "friend" I had about 5 years ago. But the protection money scheme is just one way of getting money out of people.

 

The people providing the protection should deal with the other group. No rival gang should move onto the other's turf.

Just don't get in the middle of it.

 

Tell them you're outsourcing to a third-party protection group from Japan and that unless they offer lower rates you're going to have to decline.

 

Do you live in Trenton NJ? If so, I am not surprised there might be some protection going down there.

Naw, I'm not from Trenton. I was just curious about what people thought about the subject. I personally don't have any protection issue yet.

yet=probably won't be in that situation unless lightning strikes me, or I become stupid and move into the bad part of town.
