I will do. Not my priority right now, as I have to reply to one month of unanswered PMs:wink-new: but I'll reopen the POPStarter source code as soon as I find the time and the motivation...

Developers and admins, be aware of that yeshuachrist faggot. Sounds like he's gone to spend his whole poor life in the demolition of homebrew devs works.

This guy is claiming he is doing it because the FMCB initials are offensive (wtf?) and he's doing it for parent's out there.

WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?

If he thinks that I made an unofficial version of FMCB that gets installed by that installer, I'm sure that he failed to realize that my installer doesn't contain an unofficial version of FMCB. :stupid:

It's called an "unofficial installer" because it wasn't written by the original developers of FMCB, but by a 3rd party. To be precise, it even installs an official version of FMCB v1.8c! :cool-new:

And my installer currently doesn't have a license anyway.

FMCB is about to evolve, into something beyond is current abilities. If it becomes a difficult to compromize, closed-source project, he probably won't be able to create new rip-offs. The lack of hacking and anti-emulation protection is something most homebrew software lack.

We should just make our work shine brighter then, so the point where we won't even have to say anything to cause his crap to seem really like crap. And ask sites/reposters to link back to the original ones, so that end-users will get to know about where the software came from.

He's not only a n00b, but is dishonest and doesn't deserve the respect of a true hacker, developer and/or researcher.

As much as it sucks having to take up space doing so, perhaps it might be worthwhile to have a "Stolen from Apple"-style easter egg that is obfuscated in some way. I know FMCB source isn't public now, but it could help prove the true lineage of the code if someone finds a way to hexedit it (not sure if it's possible due to the MC binding but if it is this guy would do it).

    Something like this ?

(Hidden button combo on the PS3 causes it to show what version of packages come with the installed OS)

Basically, yeah. Something that comes up and says "This is Free McBoot version <x>, if this copy doesn't inform you of that during startup then it was illegally modified, go to psx-scene.com to upgrade to the newest version" and then maybe put the FMCB logo and a full URL to the installer? I dunno, just a thought. It pisses me off to see people's hard work being stolen like this. I always worry about devs discontinuing their work when it's stolen, I know it's happened before, in this scene and others.

Also, was reading over at isozone and this guy now claims to have FMCB 1.8 source code.

I don't believe that for a second, but would it be worth investigating on the off chance that it's true?

I just try the CB OSD, and it could play tracks of DHT PAL. More interesting thing is that, when I try with the other OSD replacement that krHACKen gave us, that I could hear sound of the intro of the game. Tracks of game seems working with that OSD in use - thought Im not very sure, that's a game I never use.

Tested DHT USA/NTSC with importplayer OSD and the intro music plays until you start a new game. then after a short moment all sound is gone (SFX and music).
Same result when replacing Bios with POPS 6.60 Bios.
Tested with CB OSD and playing track works, like you said.

Which other OSD is that? And can it be used to play a game? Or did you mean importplayer?

Final test will be when i receive my original copy :)

Other OSD was ImportPlayer, I did not remind its name at the moment I wrote my post.

That's weird, because I did not experiment that at all. How long did you play?

@krHACKen : is the CB cheat device working with POPStarter or did you include it only to check CD tracks?

I've posted it for the purpose of CD-DA tracks verifications. The cheat engine won't work, and it crashes the emulator somehow :( .

Edit : ImportPlayer can run games, and it does pretty much the same thing as the CUE2POPS NTSC patcher function .

Ok, too bad. I hoped it could be used to enable some PAL2NTSC + Y-Fix Codes (I cant get ImportPlayer to work, it has no effect :( )

Totally not true. FMCB v1.8 had a redesign from v1.7: Launching ELFs from the hacked OSD doesn't go through the FMCB binary's entry point anymore. His OSD configuration initialization is unlike the FMCB v1.8 sources, whereby his is... exactly the same as v1.7's.

I did a DIFF of his entire source code archive against the FMCB v1.7 sources, and he just changed:
    1. All icons.
    2. Cleared the Version string within the FMCB installer's mcboot.c file (Yes, only this one change in that file!).
    3. Adjusted the default options within launcher2.
    4. The FMCB configuration file to have keybindings for his bundled software and to match his default settings.
    5. Removed splash screen from launcher2.
    6. Added some modules from my unofficial installer to his... but they aren't used at all? And I don't see why he'll need them anyway since he's using the FMCB v1.7 installer. D:

So how can this be faster than v1.8 (and we're not even talking about v1.8c yet)? To begin with, v1.7 is dead slow...

Just shut him down. There's nothing to see here.

    This. :applause:

I figured he was full of shit. People like him don't get gifts of gold handed to them on silver platters, even if they loudly proclaim they do :triumphant:

His butchered OPL 0.8 ELFs :

Looks like the author and contributor names were offensive to him too:mad-new:.

The "release" topic of the hexedited binaries has been locked, but the lamer didn't get an infraction and his junks are still available for download. What's the guideline of theISOzone ? Ps2Ownz less the profit:eek:ffended: ?

Edit : He has uploaded another fake FMCB 1.8 just now, with some "Open Public Loader 0.9.1 PLUS"...
