That's right. When I wrote CUE2POPS, I wasn't aware that CloneCD outputs cuesheets with such a syntax. After I realized it, I've added and error message (in CUE2POPS 2.0), but it's so badly coded that the error message doesn't come up and the poor proggie crashes lol.
Anyway, the new CUE2POPS (that is in Tool Box, command -cue2pops) was modified to parse those cuesheet properly, and it should vomit the damn VCD no problem. Giving the program a bad file (the .BIN instead of the .CUE for instance) would print an error (where CUE2POPS 2.0 just miserably crashes).

Alright, I made TROJANs for Tomb Raider 1 and 2. Uploaded to the 4shared account. Since not everyone can access it and reading thru tons of thread pages is a lot of hassle, here's a fixed link for DLing all the game fixes :
    http://ddata.over-blog.com/1/06/19/78/kHn/SOFTWARES/GAME_FIXES.ZIP
... added to the 1st post. I'll update that zip everytime I make a decent fix.

TR 1 and 2 are playable. Sadly their epicness is ruined by the lack of their background music. For some reason, POPS won't output it. I didn't try the compatibility modes.
The Tomb Raider 1 US fix has been tested with v1.3 and v1.6 only. Perhaps it works on the other versions...
The Tomb Raider 2 US fix has been tested with v1.0 only.
The PAL ones work with the French, German and Italian versions.

As for Parasite Eve 2, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets and NFS 1, I had no time to tamper with them yet, sorry :( .

EDIT : BTW, I can't access the compatibility list too.

I feel silly. I missed the part about the toolbox. Well, that should be fine then. I think I've already fixed all my CUE sheets, but it would be nice to not have it crash if I missed any. And yeah, I probably used CloneCD a few times in the past. I know I read it was the best for PSX games back in the day and I think I switched from CDRWIN to it at some time or other, so probably that's why I'm seeing so many working. It may also be specific versions of it that do this. I'm not going to lie about it, I wasn't exactly consistent about my backups and most of my originals at this point are beyond hope (hey, it has been 15+ years and some four or five moves since then...)

Anyway, I have a question related yet off topic a bit. Is there any way to do any sort of menu for this? I was kind of disappointed that it uses this method where you have to have a bunch of ELFs (really bad if you need to store on a memory card btw. There isn't any sort of symbolic link or anything like that is there? I find that the official SONY 8MB cards perform the best and have the best game compatibility besides, but this has the side effect of leaving one with very little room to work with. It's a bit messy, but for now I'm just sticking them on an old small USB drive.) I thought of trying to setup something with uLaunchELF, but it's not really designed to be a menu system so much as a convenient startup tool. Is there anything I can use to make a menu for my PSX games that would work well with this? I don't care about cover art or anything graphical or special -- a plain text list is just fine. I just want to be able to simplify the process considerably compared to going through the file management, browsing to the mass storage, and manually running from there. (Though as a side thought, it strikes me that it would be really cool and IMO probably fitting and ideal if someone could convince the OPL team to integrate this code. After all, where better than it for this?)

Hmm, the TROJAN for Tomb Raider US does not seem to work for v1.0, it is a BSOD. Tomb Raider II works though.

EDIT: Metal Gear Solid is not working for me either, still hangs after the cutscene when first meeting the DARPA chief. I am using the v1.1 US version.

I tried the patches with this US versions of both games:

Tomb Raider US v1.0 - Not works, BSOD.
Tomb Raider US v1.1 - Works.

I tried all the compatibility modes with v1.1 but none fixes the music of audio CD. I noticed that
in the first big area of the game it have slowdown, not very serious but modes do not fixes the
    slowdown.

    Tomb Raider 2 US v1.1 - Works.

Again tried all the modes but the music do not works.

Maybe you are confused with another game, i remember that the Brave Fencer not worked with
the first old version of POPS and with any version, never we encountered a game that worked in
the first old POPS and not in the POPStarter, this game always freezes in BSOD starting a new
game, and compatibility modes do not helps, then there is nothing to do for now.

    Regards.

For me Tomb Raider II PAL English works (without music) but crashes while first level ending. It can't load ending cutscene.
Same thing with Tomb Raider II NTSC.

So last night I was testing out games with Popstarter, and I decided to try the english translation of Tales of Phantasia when a bizarre and hilarious glitch occured: It turns out that whenever the game attempts to play the character voices, it gets stuck and just continues to play all the voice recordings in the game. I was able to get past the intro by disabling all voices, but upon reaching the overworld I pressed the 'select' button, which initiated a dialogue between the two characters. When this conversation was finished, instead of ending the dialogue, one of the male characters begins speaking in a cutesy japanese girl voice, and kept switching back and forth between male and female voices, still with his mouth animated to match the voices. I'm not sure yet if the game remains playable if you disable voices and avoid hitting select in the overworld, or if this is still a problem on the original japanese version. May test further. I've been testing out merged multi-disc games as well, and so far they have mostly worked (except games that arent working to begin with, like ff9), but I couldn't seem to get the game 'D' to work, even though I believe its listed as working. I'm also curious if anyone has tried to merge the game 'Riven', which I didn't see any pre-made kit for. Heres another problem I encountered that had me scratching my head: I launch Popstarter elfs on my usb stick via the OPL 'Apps' screen. It was working perfectly for awhile, and then I added like 6 games in a row to my conf_apps.cfg file that wouldn't launch through OPL, giving me an instant error message, as if it didn't even attempt to run the XX.gamename.elf . These all work perfectly fine through uLaunchELF. I tried shrinking my POPS folder and conf_apps.cfg back to just a few games, assuming that the file or directory had gotten too big, but these games still refuse to work with OPL. I've added a few games since then that work fine, but I thought it was a pretty strange coincidence that I had a bunch in a row that wouldn't (and still won't) launch via OPL. I see there is a new OPL release candidate that just came out in the past few days, maybe I'll test it out to see if it fixes the problem.

Yes, IdentRip (not PS2ident, which is a PS2 hardware identification software developed by SP193). The latest version of IdentRip makes LibCrypt cracks, but I'd recommend you use Tool Box instead (-lc command). It's simple to use. You can see the list of supported savedstates by entering -lc -help. For making your LibCrypt crack, type the path of your savestate after the -lc command (example : c:\ToolBox.exe -lc c:\mysavestate.bin) and follow the instructions. Same goes for most of its functions, the syntax of the command lines is -function inputfile.bin...

Thanks for the reports. I've updated the "Tomb Raider (SLUS-00152)" TROJAN and it should now work with v1.0.
I'll try to port the MGS TROJAN to v1.1 as soon as I can.

My bad. Thank you for reporting this. I've fixed it in the PAL, US, JPN and beta versions. I couldn't try the modified TROJAN of the beta version, cuz the clear level cheat of the retail version seems to not work on it...

Yes and no. The multitap is usable after loading the multitap driver, but POPS only supports 2 pads :( .

It's weird how Tomb Raider's music is not working since it is CDDA and POPS supports it. Also, Lara's voice (explaining the training course in Lara's home) does not work in Tomb Raider II as well. I have tried all modes, and PATCH_5 BSODs. Lara's voice when grunting still works.

EDIT: Thank you for the fixes, I will try Tomb Raider 1 now.

Now it's working, thanks krHACKen. I've tested only NTSC and it loads ending cutscene. So sad that music and speech for cutscenes still doesn't work:(
