I've merged Metal Gear Solid disc 1 and 2 (version 1.1) and tested: the game won't boot

ps2rd is nothing more than ps1 codes converted for ps2 system, my question is: how to use it? just convert gameshark to vcd?

OBS: i am actually getting bunch of games for preparing my list, but coolrom is slowly these days...115 kb/s

Okay, i know i was really noob with disc merging tutorials, but when i tried to merge metal gear solid discs i got a bin file with miserable 39.9 mega bytes, already renamed the files as eve-1 and eve-2, but thats what happened

You have to edit "extract.bat" using Notepad++: on the first two lines rename "cd1_10.img" with "eve-1.bin", "cd2_10.img" with "eve-2.bin" and save changes.
Try to merge discs again and tell me if run on Popstarter ;)

I have ps2 fat and Spyro 1 (PAL) works, but do not react to any pad button like the pad was not connected. The same effect if I turn on the Spyro demo in Crash Bandicoot 3. Could there be any solution?

Man, how have I missed this discussion? If I have a PS2 Slim, how feasible is it to use for POPS/PS1 emulation? i.e. I won't have a HDD hooked up. Is the USB slot too slow?

The problem isn't the USB speeds, but emulation compatibility and speed. Some games work, some don't, and as far as I know hardly any game will perform different if in HDD or USB.

The data transfer speed on Ps2's USB1.0 is quite well enough for old Ps1 games. I've been using it for quite some time now with no delay. The only issue is that when you use a USB HDD you can't stay in one place forever (like Silent Hill) as it will power down and the game will freeze. I recommend everyone to use a flashdrive rather than a USB HDD.

It's very easy to find as it is. Just use torrent/file search engines to find it.

Megaman X6; freeze before encountering boss without compatibility modes, slight music stutter on new game.
Final Fantasy VII; stutter then freeze on intro of Sony.
    Oddworld; frequent graphical glitches.

Mise à jour des listes HDD et USB (NTSC-U/J et PAL)

    Hello.

Please update the HDD or USB lists with your comments. This will be very useful for krHACKen because all of your tests will be gathered there in one page. Use the form to fill the lists because they are "read only".

Remember to fill all the columns because I do not take them into account if it is misinformed.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

    See you soon.

    Bonjour.

    A bientôt.

    Algol.

There's a trick - don't use 2.5" drive with built-in USB port but normal SATA/IDE drive with USB adapter, the one which allows to disable automatic sleep mode with service utility or just ordinary 5400 rpm desktop/NAS drive. I had similar problem with media player (a huge chunk of the movie was cached, drive stops after a few minutes and when player needs to access another part you get 6 sec pause until drive is ready again), it was linux-based so it was only a matter of turning drive APM off with hdparm, which obviously won't work with PS2, easiest way will be to use drive like WD Red or similar in USB box.

Thnks Flash. Very useful info. I've been looking solutions for this since flash drives are not available on larger capacities. (guess it's a one disadvantage from using external hdd's, wasted)

I tried to make pops working with opl, by the text conf_apps file, tried all methods and stuff and nothing, the closest i get is using wolf77 2.70 kb file, but it doesn't care becose it only works with a specific list of games.

My ps2 is slim, and never could get pops working with opl, anyone else?
