I updated my PS2TOOL with PS2 SDK 3.0.3 (located here: https://assemblergames.com/threads/ps2-sdk-3-0-3-june-2005.40575/ As you can see via the pictures below, my PS2 side's screen no longer shows information (Gateway, Ip address etc). Also most games give me the "not a PS2 disc" error. No games load. I have never been able to test PS2 discs on this tool before, hence the reason I decided to upgrade the flash. I'd like to try an earlier SDK but have trouble finding any. Any help would be appreciated. DTL-T10000
Try a different version or go back to stock? Not entirely sure the correct process, but there is a mode for that I think. And stop using the Linux side directly, that can apparently cause issues.
Can you link to other versions of the SDK? I just inserted another disc and I notice I get this message (these are all original retail disks, by the way):
which model you T10k ? some mode too old need install all .rpm file by the way , if crash WS flash rom , need use tool mode to re flash it , if all dead , need shadow s_flashrom to re flash again
I think these are two separate problems. The error about the disc type might be a sign that the CD/DVD drive may be having problems. After all, you never tested it before, have you? The TOOL will only boot master discs and pressed discs. I didn't believe this at first, but the early Japanese units are unable to boot pressed discs that are out-of-region. I do not know what is up with the information screen though. Upon bootup, try to enter dsedb without resetting (dsedb -nr). If the EE is not running (i.e. debugger is in STOP mode), then try to do a dr . If we can establish that it is one of the new EE kernel checks, then it is possible that Sony had to update their boot screen program to fit the new EE kernel. Your solution would be to update the necessary RPM(s) and/or just ignore it. Or even, just boot up the TOOL with the WS/TOOL switch in the WS mode position, and flip it over before use...
find new ver dsnet-xxxxx.rpm , gstool-xxxxx.rpm, install it , or ask some one , make a copy for you replace it PS: if still not help, may be need "Kernel Restoration Tool for the T10000" to repair it
I would concur on that first part, I found a similar error on a friend’s unit and it turned out to be a small tear in the dvd ribbon cable
did you try all boot disc mode? some time DVD drive laser suck also keep read error • To run in 8 MB development mode. dsedb S> reset 2 0 • To run in 2 MB development mode. dsedb S> reset 2 80 • To run in 8 MB test mode. dsedb S> reset 2 100 • To run in 2 MB test mode. dsedb S> reset 2 180 Return to original mode. When you are finished using the DTL-T10000, enter the following command to return to original mode. dsedb R> reset 0 0
It looks like a breakpoint was inserted at the start of a function... so I guess it is indeed caused by one of the new runtime checks that they added to the EE kernel. So you can either ignore it, leave the TOOL in WS mode before boot, or update the logo program (part of the gstool RPM?).
Well, I turned the Tool on tonight and things seemed to have gone from bad to worse. I get the error screen below (on both Tool mode or WS mode:
I hope you made a backup of your HDD. That HDD has probably started to fail, unless you haven't been shutting down the TOOL properly; you need to hold the green power button until it beeps, and leave it to shut down.
So, both hard drives are failing? This seems to happen if the switch is in either Tool or WS mode. Yes, I have an image of the Tool's drive (a 27.9 gb disc image file).
There is only one HDD for the SBC board. The other one is either connected to the AIF (and is unused) or the T14000 emulator board.
I was able to restore my Tool's hard drive and am no longer getting the errors upon boot. I attempted a downgrade from rel300.bin to rel270.bin. Rel270.bin gives me a different Ps2 side boot screen. This time, instead of showing the word "Tool" on the screen with no gateway, ip address, etc shown, it just shows the upper half of the screen (the bottom half is black). I then downgraded to rel20.bin and the Ps2 sides screen is normal again ("tool" logo and all information listed below it). I just discovered though that rel270.bin (and on occasion rel300bin) allows me to run only PS2 Blue bottom discs. No silver discs work for I get the "This is not a PS2 disc, illegal disc" error messages. I'm presuming that there is a problem with the laser and it just can't read PS2 dvds. It can only read PS2 cds (blue bottoms).
