In other news, Kaz Hirai is still a fucking loon. The way things are, according to Kaz: 1/ Sony are, in fact, the official leader of the current console race (so long as you ignore Nintendo, and Microsoft) 2/ The PS3 will have a higher install base than the competition at the end of the life cycle 3/ The Cell being difficult to program for is actually really great 4/ In the future people will buy the PS3 just for Home Honestly, what fucking planet does this man live on. The PS3 is a decent system that's finally coming into its own, and I want one, but this is absurd.
This guy is on crack or something: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/56834 Official leadership my ass... -edit- Alchy Beat me to the punch by seconds! Oh well... In any case, I think it is amusing how the tables have turned so drastically this generation. I can recall similar arguments against the original XBOX way back when most of the people here who are now defending the PS3 were launching similar claims as to why the XBOX was a terrible console. "It has no games", "Microsoft is only in it for the money", "It's the most expensive console" blah blah blah. And as sure as any PS3 fanboy is making lists of "stellar" games for the PS3 now, I'd be in those old threads making lists of "stellar" games that were on the XBOX. Now I know how ridiculous I seemed back then, as it is obvious that my preferences were clearly not the same as those who were shouting, "It has no games." I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers here, I just think it is hilarious how things turned out. Though, the one thing that gets me... just as I decide to duck out of the console gaming scene and move on to a superior realm (PC gaming :icon_bigg ) Sony starts getting their ass kicked. I'm not going to lie, I would've loved to have seen that while I still cared about console gaming. Either way, I don't really care since I think all current gen consoles are shitty, but it is fun seeing the Sony zealots squirm for once.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - ok Little Big Planet - ok Resistance 2 - no way Heavenly Sword - boring Motorstorm - mediocre Ratchet and Clank - mediocre Folklore - no idea Uncharted - good game by universal standards, best game by ps3 standards. Valkyria Chronicles - no idea Wipeout HD - decent, but lacking in content if you ve done it all before on the PSP Eye of Judgment - no idea As a PS3 owner myself and a buyer of many PSN titles I m sorry to report that the PS3 lacks that one game that will make me say "jesus christ, if it weren't for the PS3 the world would have never got (name the game)". So, although it has many mediocre games, quite a few decent ones and a few good ones, there's nothing outstanding on it thus far I m sad to report.
Yes but the wii is actually fun with 4 people in the same room, Sony can't sell you that. Real story. On that note, I hate online gaming, even with friends it feels so...void of fun - the moment you look around you after a victory and there's no one to throw stuff at, share a joint, have a pizza, whatever
define superior - and don't go on about machine power, it's largely irrelevant in relation to actual "fun"
I'm waiting fot Gran Turismo and the real new Wipeout. Those will be 2 of these "jesus christ" games... too bad ps3 will be in deep shit by the time they'll be released, and also the same games run better on 360 than ps3 due to bad programming/rushed ports...
Johny, I have found that playing GT 5 prologue with a wheel is a rather satisfying experience, compared to any other car racer out there, so give it a shot honestly. That said, once you get the GT by Citroen it's like playing f-zero and physics dont really apply it's piss easy to win unrestricted events!
Haha! I knew that line wouldn't go unnoticed  Superior in my own perverse, personal opinion. For me, PC gaming is something relatively new (I don't count my Amiga days of old as PC gaming, because quite frankly the experience was totally different and I was very young). So for me, it's a nice break from consoles, which I've been playing since the NES days. I could go on and on about mods, controls, graphics, etc. But again, those are old arguments and it all boils down to personal preference. Quite honestly, I enjoy buying new hardware, upgrading my computer, fine tuning my components, getting that perfect overclock, etc. It's all part of the experience, and I love it. I could (and have) easily spend an entire weekend overclocking and stress testing my computer :icon_bigg Some people don't have the time, money, patience, etc to do hardcore PC gaming. I understand that... but I do have all those things for the most part and I do genuinely enjoy PC gaming, which to me makes it superior. The TWO video cards in my computer cost less than a PS3 and can play games at graphical levels and resolutions the PS3 can't even imagine
fair enough mate =) the main reason why I like consoles over PCs is the fact that i don't need to fiddle with anything!
I'd object to the term "superior" because it implies objectivity in the comparison, but eh, I'm not in the mood for a fight. I used to spend countless hours/days tweaking my PC too, but it's been a while since I've had that kind of spare time, and the time I do have, I'd rather be playing games. Also, the cost involved in keeping a PC up to date was becoming astronomical at the same time that the game selection was becoming less appealing. It's an interesting time to make the switch from consoles to PC, anyway, what with so many of the big names in PC games admitting that they can't make the PC their sole/lead platform and still make a profit (Crytek, Epic, id, etc).
If you weren't in the mood for a fight, you shouldn't have even mentioned anything ;-) The word superior has many meanings, depending on context. If you take a look at a Thesaurus, you should see either "preferable" or "preferred" (or both!) in the list of synonyms, which makes perfect sense in the context I used the word superior in. Because the PC is my "preferred" platform, it is therefore "superior" to me. :icon_bigg
Exactly, and I made it perfectly clear that the word made perfect sense in the context I used it in, so I don't know what you are trying to say.
I'll just say this. If none of the consoles had exclusives, I don't think I'd really want to get any of them now. I'm not as much of a PC enthusiast as AWS, but I'm starting to like PC gaming more than consoles as well. About the only thing I miss about consoles is being in a lazy chair or couch while playing games, I guess. I mean, its not a matter of TV size either, even though my TVs bigger than my monitor, my monitor seems bigger because I'm closer to it. With that said, hell, it wouldn't really be that hard to get a huge Plasma or LCD TV with a 1680 by 1050 resolution, or higher, I guess, so I could play PC games on the couch with a 360 PC pad if I really really wanted to. When it comes to FPS rates and graphics, I'm not one of those guys that goes crazy over getting 200 FPS, I just like stable high FPS rates with good graphics and good moddability on the PC games I own. I don't hate consoles, but as soon as I got a good gaming PC, in my opinion, at least in this generation, nothing even comes close to it. Maybe if in this gen everything wasn't on PC, 360, and PS3 at the same time It'd be a different story.
My buddy, skavenger216, usually has his laptop hooked up to his really nice plasma screen. I have to admit, it's very pretty. All-in-all, I think PC gaming has always been better than console gaming. Although my computer can't really keep up with the graphical intensity of newer games, there are nearly infinite amounts of older games that I have yet to play that are just as good as today's games.
I' ll nod to that. Older PC games and some game-types (point'n'clicks, RTS etc) are best played on a PC. Older PC games were legend. I d even play Blood 2: The Chosen over Halo (any number) any day of the week. Sim City 3K:Unlimited is what I m after at the moment
