i don't get what is sony waiting to slash a 100$... if they cut the price they might get a bigger base, that will be a must now that the economics are in crisys.

also it would make available sweet deals in shops like gamestop and make it closer to an x360...

So far in my household there has been no mention of a PS3 and most of talk has been about getting a Wii or 360 which is probably becuase the PS3's price is still a bit high compared to the 360/Wii.

I think a price drop would be an excellent thing for sony to do becuase most people would see the ps3 as more affordable it could possibly get more users having bought the machine due to a lower price.

There's talk of Nintendo raising the Wii price, so the PS3 or XBOX looks like a good bet. I have both, so I feel super lucky.

According to a couple of news reports I've read, Nintendo will be charging retailers/wholesalers £20 more per unit. I believe it's mainly due to the weakness of the Pound. It's up to the retailers if they decide to pass this cost on to the customer.

The mark up on electrical goods isn't very high anyway, and a £20 increase is quite a hit to profits. I reckon we will see a healthy proportion of that price increase passed on to the consumer.

That sounds preposterous. Though, of course, there's always the possibility that they "upgrade" it with some enhancement and then charge more money for it. But in the original shape, no way.

They could upgrade it with HDMI, or wireless sensor tracker, or perhaps DVD video playback. That could justify, but only slightly, a price raise.

Nintendo could have dropped the price previously and as long as people buy the console for Wii Sports and Wii Fit then I can see Nintendo laughing all the way to the bank.

Thanks Dave. This is similar to the reports I read.

Nothing's changing with the Wii, but they're raising the UK price. Half the chavs and normal people dont have jobs now, so I dont know who will be buying one. Bankers?

    Nintendo are worse than Apple!

    This is the situation:

The profit margin has shrunk so they're forced to BUNDLE games with the DS. The Wii AFAIK is unaffected. White and Silver DS colors are being phased out as well (I m still getting a white DSi!)

They can just repackage it with a game or extras and call it something else. The "premium edition" or the "wii tarded edition"

That's one of the hardest "paragraphs" I have ever tried to read. Where are all the punctuation marks?

Congratulations on your new 80GB (I think).

I wish mine had PS2 support, albeit in software.

Debating getting a PS2... though I reckon it would make more sense to get a PS2 for free when someone gives one away somewhere.

back on topic, i'm personally starting to see sony as the same as sega in the late 90's...

Braindead gamers (did you ever heard that before?? haha! , wich describes the non hardcore gamers back in the day that contributed to create the PS1 madness) are already turning their backs on PS3...

    Killzone2 ?? anyone??

If God Of War 3 bombs, it WILL be the end of PS3. 120% sure.

X360 and Wii are the current fashion..

Sony, there's no place for 3 competitors ;)

    Oh...sweet...sweet...
