Sony has signed an agreement with Immersion which will see rumble added to future PlayStation products: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=23209
Mmmm, I don't know how to feel. It's good to have the rumble back, but they should have finished this agreement before the PS3 launch. Now everyone with the old Sixaxis has to buy the new controller (Dual Shock-axis?) to enjoy the rumble feature.
 you got there before I could. SONY - "last week" (Not true word for word but you get the idea.) Rumble is sooooo last gen. People don't need it. We know because we invented the whole concept of video gaming back in 1882. SONY - "today" Great news everyone ! We're getting rumble back because we love you so much and want to for-fill your every wish. Idiots.
As I said a few days ago, I don't really CARE for rumble, but them contradicting themselves in public to give the customers something THEY want is a good move, imo. Had it been any other company, I doubt they'd be getting flak for something actually POSITIVE.
how is it good to contradict yourself? Just makes you look like an idiot who has no idea what you want or what you understand. The only reason they now want rumble is because they have noticed that they were wrong and in the process annoyed more "followers". To me it looks as if they're grasping on to anything to keep in the lime light. Yakumo
Well, I mean it takes balls to admit you were wrong and go ahead and fix the problem. I wouldn't have thought Sony would have bothered, but they did. I'm sure some exec will say something dumb, or will say something to justify changing and contradict what some other exec has said, but thats what they have to do. I don't think they're doing this JUST to keep it in the limelight, but doing it to get more sales. A lot of people were upset that it wasn't getting the Rumble, and Sony is spending money and resources to make THEM happy. Sure, they're a business, and they're in it for the money, but they're actually listening to what people are saying, imo. I wouldn't have cared either way, but the fact that they realized they were wrong and went to fix the problem shows that they aren't TOTALLY insensitive to the needs of their customers. I guess thats argumentative, but in the long run, The PS3 is getting Rumble. A Sony exec was contradicted by this? And he DOESN'T represent the entire company with just HIS opinions? Say it ain't so.
Excellent news for PS3 owners, Sony should be commended for offering the public what they obviously want. The execs must be blushing though, after all that noise about how last-gen rumble was and how it was incompatible with motion sensing.
Yes, but this is where Sony makes an important distinction. Rumble is last gen, but getting rid of rumble and then adding it again is totally next-gen!!! Can't you smell the future?!!
I have a feeling it will be more like this for allot of people. Buy new PS3 with rumble. Replace controller with old one and return PS3. You now have rumble at no extra cost. I could be wrong but somehow I doubt it.
LOL and all the fanboys jumped to the defense in agreement - OH how I LAUGH! Wunderbar Sony! How they keep us amused.
Hah, I'm sure theose controllers will become more valuable once the markets flooded with rumble featuring controllers
I'm not shocked about this announcement. In all honesty sony just isn't that great at hiding weaknesses like other companies. But hell at least there putting it back in. I wouldn't be shocked if they made a 256mb ram add on so it would have as much ram as 360
These days, i'm glad Sony exists. Everyday i have something new to read about... and laugh Rumble is so last gen... And some days later: Here is Rumble! I think that even Sony execs laughed on this.
So I guess Sony can't win. They either don't include rumble and consumers complain, or they sign an agreement which will allow rumble and consumers complain. Ideally I'd like there to be two versions, one rumble and one motion, with the rumble hopefully priced a bit lower than the motion. I don't personally want to have a motion controller for my PS3, that's why I bought a Wii.
