Nope, you aren't alone. But i enjoyed every era for its own merits, and I m glad to have been fortunate enough to be born at exactly the right time to catch all the major action going on. Nowadays there's people younger than the SNES.. or people who their first console was a Ps2.. that's just sad
Then it should've came to market before, like in early 94, right? Indeed, but its the same with every industry when it grows. Most of the old programmers I know think the golden age of the PC was from 1975 to 1987, when development was easy and almost inexpensive and there were tons of companies doing new and original inventions. Another example is the auto industry. In the past there were hundreds of autoworks, while today just in the states you have to cut that number to 3 or even less...
