    So far (thanks dot50cal)

PSP to be used as a videophone (skype?)
    PSP to support macromedia flash

PSP to have a psone emu
(now all those ports have an excuse)

PSP soft to be bought via net. Hackers rejoice.

PS3 to have new DRM HDMI.- Time to throw away my $1600 sony hidef tv. Or better yet, class action lawsuit.

PS3 to be launched simultaneous worldwide. (better set the chair up in front of walmart now)

PS3 to be made in the millions months before launch. (get your stolen ps3 in SEPT.)
Microsoft counters with single digit units per store thunderclap. Sony stunned.

PS3 games to use HDD is it's available.(read if you buy it).

All games on BD no DVD media ones. (so buy those blueray burners )

    Free basic online

PS3 HDD to be about three times the size of the 360's support sony linux and
allow the ps3 to be used as a home appliance.

Final Ps3 devkits in june. So that leaves.. (Oh, it's perfectly possible to crank a next gen game out in five months... )

I should add, Devs are to make games with the assumption that HDD will be present, meaning make the game to use the HDD.

Say 3,000,000 systems divided by three zones.

    Japan 2,000,000
    USA 800,000
    Europe 200,000

    worse case 1,000,000

    800,000 Japan
    150,000 USA
    50,000 Europe

Japan for sure is a critical market. US and European markets are not as important at launch as Japan.

Ha, it'll be more hellish then the 360 launch with those numbers. Especially since Japan will be involved.

    Ebay fun?

Right, Sony *has* to release in the US same time as Japan due to 360, this is a panic choice for them.

I'm thinking the PS3 shortages for the US in Christmas will make the 360 shortage look like nothing, at a time when MS should have no problem putting 360's on the shelves, should be interesting.

I don't suppose there was any mention of price points?

they haven't said a price yet, still dicking around.

I am betting $499 in Japan with hdd and all the goodies

Some stripped down shite pckage for the usa, at $399

Something with no HDD and no remote

I too am concerned about this DRM 0- is this soley for movies or what?

I guess my rel question is: What resolution will I be playing games in over a component connection?

I have an HDMI connection, but that is being used by my cable box.

The hdmi is encoded, sent encoded via cable, and decoded by the screen.

You'll need some sort of data stream descrambler for it to work on an old hdmi tv in 1080i or 1080p.

good point, honestly microsoft barely pulled of their world wide launch and they got the money and resources to back it up, the ps3 with its issues on finalizing blu ray, could be a quite disaster.

HDMI is just the port name like DVI or component. HDCP is the actual DRM crap. Note, you can still have the prerequisite HDCP without having an HDMI port since DVI is pin compatible with HDMI (doesn't carry sound though).

I really wish the entertainment industry would get their collective heads out of their asses. We don't want DRM. We don't need DRM. DRM doesn't work. We are not the ones causing a loss in profits. The people making money and causing piracy losses are the ones who sell the copied stuff on the internet and street corners.

GAF is reporting that it'll be priced under 50,000 yen. However other sites aren't reporting a price. I'd bet that price came from a guess, that became seen as fact somewhere down the road. Same with the 6 million by March 2007 estimate that Gamespot is supposable saying.

Impress Watch and Xbox-Scene seems to confirm that the 2.5" 60GB will be standard.
