Hmm, I don't know if the launch games will turn out any good with timing like this, unless some of the bigger dev houses crunch time for 4 1/2 months.

    On other notes

Guardian’s Gamesblog takes a look at the math of Sony’s recent assertions that they can supply enough PS3 consoles for a simultaneous world-wide launch in November, 2006. They’re skeptical. Who wouldn’t be? Based upon past evidence, the assumption is that Sony needs to put together 10 million PS3s in order to have enough supply to meet demand in all territories. The Guardian estimates that this would require Sony to have already begun production of the PS3 and to produce a million consoles a month from January to November. That’s 50,000 per day.

But has production already started? How could it, with Blu-Ray still being an unagreed standard? Developers don’t even have final dev kits.

We’re doing to put on our Criswell turban here and predict there is no way Sony can make enough consoles for a world-wide launch in November. So if Sony sticks to that launch date, expect another 360 fiasco, children.

    Thanks Guardian : http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/games/archives/2006/03/15/can_sony_manage_a_global_ps3_rollout_lets_do_the_math.html

Prices haven't been officially announce, but one can easily guess it will be either $500 for a full package, which I'm sure people will pay or $300 - $400 for a core package.

A lot of this info will be announced at E3. Sony is basically going to steal the show this year away from Nintendo and 360.

how illegal would it be (hypothetically) for a company like nintendo to release an official emualtor of a competetors system on one of their own consoles? Has this ever happened before?

God damn it. Did they learn nothing from Microsoft?

    Sigh...

And what is the point of the Eyetoy on the PSP? The Eyetoy is fun because you wave your arms around acting like a crazy person, and I don't see how you can do that if you have to hold the system.

The eumlator itself wouldn't be illegal so long as it didn't contain any copyrighted code (BIOS is the usual culprit). It hasn't happened before to my knowledge, mainly because the games would have to come from somewhere and that somewhere could be illegal = potential litigation. The PSP should be more than capable of running a GBA emulator, but Sony will never release one since it'd be actively encouraging piracy.

Q: So can I have flash files on the mem stick and view them then, or is it just while browsing the net?

Q: "Mem.Stick boot support". Boot support for what, the ps1 games?

Q: Have any dev houses stated they will support the new ps1 emu?

Q: Will you only be able to download ps1 games, or will it be more like XBox Live Arcade?

    1. I hounestly dont know , most likey download games from SonyLife onto your mem card.

    2. From GAF- So how does the PS1 emulator work? The PS3 turns your PS1 CD-ROMs into UMDs, you put them in your PSP and BINGO!

    3. Yes Sony has hinted that you will be able to download classic PS1 games via SonyLife

Actually it has happened. Both the Intellivision and Colecovision had expansion modules to play 2600 games.

Given Sony's track record, this is hype.
They'll easily miss their November date.

The Dreamcast has an official PC Engine emulator as part of Dream Passport 3 as well as a Mega Drive emulator. I guess they have NEC's blessing though for that one.

i think saying the xbox 360 will die is a bit too far fetched. This is microsoft, not sega, and i think the xbox360 got a better start than the ps2 by far. The ps2 was over-hyped, had the worst hardware of the war, was difficult to develop for, had games that looked worse than some dreamcast games, and had no real killer-app, but It still managed to go on top.

I know at one time Sega seriously considered licensing bleem! for Dreamcast (PSOne emulator) but didn't due to compatability issues (it wasn't very :p), and a fear of massive Sony lawsuits.

I'm more interested to know how the older games (PS1) will be displayed. IE, if the system will support 15khz non-interlaced signals. If it doesn't, which is likely, then the system cannot be called "fully backwards compatible", even though they will.

    Forgot to add this:
