That and they...you know, had a lot more time since the PS1 came out 7 years before the Xbox. Also, I wouldn't exactly put The Getaway or Fantavision on a list of good Sony 1st party games.

I'll join the 'master race' the day I can play the latest first-party exclusives like Uncharted, Gran Turismo and The Last Of Us!

Sony really appear to be on the ball this generation, creating a machine for the developers should ultimately pay dividends for us gamers!

I agree. While GT5 was a disappointment, the ammount of amazing games their first party studios create is incredible. Naughty Dog, Quantic Dream, Sucker Punch, Evolution, Guerrila, MediaMolecule, SCEA Santa Monica, Ready at Dawn,... They keep on making amazing stuff. The only sad part is SCE Liverpool (Psygnosis) is no more.

Anyway, i hope Sony brings back some old franchises like Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot (just buy the rights from Activision!), Colony Wars and Destruction Derby. And i truly hope they don't forget about MotorStorm and Wipeout.

Well, it's about time for Quantic Dream to make something that's good, let alone amazing.

You don't have to like something for it to be good. I don't like Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Crysis or the Halo series, but i can't deny they are succesful franchises with some amazing games. I just don't have interest on them.

About Quantic Dream's work, i liked Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain and think they are amazing games. We can all argue that's just my opinion, but in fact both were critically acclaimed by the press and gamers. And this is what makes me looking forward Beyond: Two Souls.

I have no idea why Heavy Rain is considered a good game. It barely has any interactivity besides Sega CD-esque QTE sequences and some insultingly simple puzzles, and the stupid story is full of truck-sized plot holes. Obviously David Cage can't even write on a bargain bin detective novel level, but I guess he's improving since Heavy Rain didn't have the insane and stupid shit Indigo Prophecy degenerated into.

It's funny how The Walking Dead is basically the same concept done right, meaning it has a story that's not absolutely terrible, and that's what really counts when the game is that simple. Maybe Quantic Dream just need a non-shitty writer.

See I had an XBOX and for all that time I would see all these great games going to PS2 while I just sat and waited for something on the XBOX yeah the XBOX got some great games too and alot of amazing underrated Gem. Then Came the 360 and for awhile there was the 3rd party support and the only thing Sony really had over it was 3rd party MGS4. But as time went on XBOX only games started showing up on the PS3 (DOA5) and really the only good stuff exclusive to XBOX were XBLA games which while good aren't exactly system sellers. I look at my 360 now and yeah I had good times with it but paying for XBOX live is getting to be a real pain in the ass nothing exclusive is coming out for it that I care about and Microsoft is letting Rare and their skills go to waste.

So what do you do? stay loyal and get burned again like the first two go arounds or you jump ship to a system that has 1st party support and LOTS OF IT.

and hence that is why next gen unless Microsoft REALLY wows me I'm going with a PS4/Vita Wii U/3DS

Sony's main strength almost certainly lies with it's first-party devs, to many of which, the inclusion of 8gb GDDR5 RAM appeared to have been unexpected. The open willingness to grant freedom from API's looks to go directly against the Microsoft stance of a more closed box too, and will only allow devs to extract more from the PS4.

I would also love to see a resurrection of the Destruction Derby franchise but i'm not sure Sony own the rights to the IP. :(

The 'Kara' tech demo looked full of promise! :)

I almost forgot to mention Twisted Metal. MAN back in the day I had SO MUCH fun with the first one there was nothing at all like Twisted metal back in the day i never played any of them past the first though It was one of those games that differed from the Nintendo experience.

Also I found this week Jack Tretton graduated from Providence College. Where my Dad got his MBA possibly right around the Same time. So, there's another reason for me to embrace sony.

The 8GB GDDR5 is nice and all. But that still doesn't seem to afford them the ability to do decent Anti Aliasing in games like Killzone(Which seems to use some shitty Post processing AA as evidenced by all the shimmering in the game). Nor do away with LOD or object pop-in (Which is something I absolutely despise) as evidenced by Drive club.

Hell even some of the textures in Killzone were pretty awful looking.

00:26 pause it. This is supposed to be next gen?

Model quality doesn't look any better than this gen either.

Better yet here's a screenshot in PNG from that exact scene

BF3 and Crysis 2(modded) on PC look better than this.

Capcom's Demo however looked amazing. Far better than Killzone. Even watch dogs looked better.

I liked what I saw during the conference, it is certainly a step in the right direction from Sony (so far!) compared to what the PS3 was at the beginning.

Having said that, I think that it's bullshit that their new x86 8GB RAM box can't emulate using software a PSOne or PS2. Of course they want to double dip the library, those bastards. No money in backwards compatibility after all, I know. But still, it would have been neat to have a device that could do it all without all the caveats with the PS3. All that talk about legacy on the intro of the conference was all about what they want to sell in the future: a rental-for-life of game software that wont even be in the hard drive of your console. I do use Steam tough, so I understand. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm old and get off my lawn you kids and your digital distribution heh

A lot of the games I've enjoyed this generation have been inferior on the PS3 compared to the 360, so my choice to make the 360 my primary gaming console was a good one. The PS3 is a good system and can pull of some stunning graphics when a game is made with the system in mind, but the really good games are too far and few between and most else on the system is inferior to the 360 version.

The PS3 isn't perfect, some games require being online (Final fight and maybe a few) other PSN games game installs taking forever, or Updates taking forever. I want one but
I think if I wait and just get a PS4 remakes of the PS3s best will be in coming over the next 6 or so years.

I still have to figure out a configuration for a Wii U, XBOX1, 360, PS2 Gamecube, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, Megasis32x, Famicom and Super famicom. Blu Ray player, DVR and My old Upsclaring DVD player (that does a better job with DVDs than my Bluray Player does)Component switcher and S-Video Switcher In the space I have.
Oh and how I'm going to store all these game. I only have 1 room for all this shit.

Most people now don't know a good game from their poo hole. I never understood why people love COD so much. I know it has it's fans here but All the 13 year old little shits play it and it sorta ruins it not to mention EVERY COD is the same I don't care what you say you're wrong EVERY COD IS THE SAME.

Wait, free weekend? Dangit! Gotta get on that.

GoH, CoD is popular because it started out being an excellent game. Probably still is the best in its class. So many bros, though.

No complaints about other players, i'm questioning the game itself. It just seems like CS 1.6 with better graphics and modern weapons / tech (drones and stuff like that). I'm not saying it's a bad game, i'm just wondering what the whole hype is all about.

Killzone 2 and 3 MP Warzone it's on a total different league. Best team multiplayer i played this gen. So much fun.

I've been wondering how the latest CoD is stacking up. I played CoD4 a lot, and World at War... I borrowed Black Ops from a friend and played a little online... I'm thinking that they're making the series too complicated. I don't need tomahawks and miscellaneous crap like that. All the perks... unlocks... etc. Has it gone too far?
