Raise your hand if you're too poor to even participate in all this nonsense. *shamefully raises hand*
So people have claimed HDMI issues, but it's not actually an issue that you need to send the PS4 to Sony over. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recently Sony was able to verify the issue by one or two of the consoles sent in for repair. The issue is actually not a failure of the HDMI port but a piece of metal that is supposed to be fleshed with the console sticking up. Plugging in the HDMI cable resulted in it being cut and thus no output image. The solution is as easy as this; simply push the metal piece down so that it is out of the way and it will work as normal! There is no faulty ports as far as Sony can tell. As a safety precaution when you get a PS4 make sure to check the HDMI port before you plug the cable in! It seems the faulty metal piece is the majority if not all of the HDMI port issues. Another issue that seems to be coming in from a small amount of users is that some PS4s are getting flashing Red Lines. Do not get scared if you happen to see this as it is NOT a console failure but means that for some reason it is not well ventilated or getting overly hot. It’s a safety measure to keep your PS4 safe. Simply let it cool and it will be back to normal. There is still a possibility of other issues that could happen within that %.4 or less margin. If for any reason you do have an issue that persists make sure to contact Sony right away for support and to get a new console if applicable. It’s a huge sigh of relief that this isn’t something major and is a quick fix. It seems like hopefully the PS4 will have a smooth launch besides this small HDMI fluke. With it well into launch day there hasn’t been any uproar or reports of other issues other than PSN being up and down due to high volume. Sony said they are working fast to get everything back up and running (which seems to be the case right now) and they are actively working on the PS4 OS to clean it up and smash any performance and bug issues
I think I may well be watching from the sidelines this gen as a PC player. I got pretty fed up myself last gen with games companies telling me what I can and can't do with my equipment, not to mention the hard faults these things ship with these days. I may pick up a PS4 when they produce the slim models (they usually do), depends on what features and games are on offer though.
There are no faulty ports? The HDMI port you have to fix yourself because of a production issue. It doesn't work out of the box. It is faulty.
*fixed Seriously though, I never would buy a new console at launch day. Every console released in the last decade or has had a better version some time after the initial release. Remember the Xbox 1 V1.0? With the extra noisy cpu fan? They fixed it with the V1.1 rather quickly. Or the PS2? If I remember correctly people recommended the V7 as the best version. So basicly the seventh revision of the console after launch. The Xbox 360 with it's RROD took I think 3 revisions before it didn't fail. Or the countless Nintendo handhelds, half a year later the upgraded XL, i or whatever version gets released thats so much better. If you think both the Xbox One and PS4 will launch without any hardware faults then you really haven't paid attention. So wait till next summer and get the second revisions for $50 less and a free game
Pretty much every Nintendo Product I have owned has never given me problems. Failure rates with Nintendo are almost non-existent, same goes for Sega since my Dreamcast outlasted my PS2 and original Xbox despite being older
My brother got his at GameStop at the midnight launch. So far we've been trying KillZone and everything seems to work fine. There was however a bit of an issue with the HDMI port so we wiggled it around until it displayed well. We're Still gonna take it to the Sony store because we shouldn't have to wiggle it to get it to work, it should work regardless. Anyways, its pretty cool, the controller definitely an improvement and I like the way it looks but I definitely wont be picking one up any time soon until a slim version
That comment wasn't aimed at you, I am referring to the countless people I see defending these companies in the wake of a new generation of consoles, you dunce. I quoted you to show our similar terminology. . . .
XBOX v1.0 they just took the GPU fan away... FIXED lol, not really. All these systems after the 128-bit gen, have been horrible. My girlfriend is rushing out to get her PS4 when the stores open, and I don't really like buying consoles on launch either. So I'll be watching how the system performs at her house before I even think of buying mine soon. Anyway I wouldn't be surprised that a slim model of both systems will follow months after like PS3, maybe it was a few years... Oh whatever many of us should of seen these problems coming, QC is horrible these days on many devices...
Yup. The gap between current (now previous) and next (now current) gen was 8 years. It was the longest such gap since the NES. I'm considering current gen to start with the 360, which was 2005.
The reason for that gap is probably because hardware no longer limits developers to the degree previous consoles did. The new systems will offer better graphics, maybe better physics, more detailed worlds or more populated ones. But they won't be the leap like previous generations. The next generation will be much like this one, just with somewhat better hardware, more memory, etc. And then ofcourse an even more internet/connected model than the current generation. I probably won't get a new console anytime soon because of that trend of bad launch hardware. I had atleast 2 Xbox 360 consoles that failed on me. It was annoying. But that combined with nothing that amazing to play. I'd like to play Dead Rising 3. Not for $560+tax though. I'm sure plenty of people, casual gamers and "new" gamers, are excited to buy either new console. For me there is far too much worth playing already.
Played my PS4 for quite a bit on saturday. I've had a few issues but a bit minor atm and a few are firmware. * Couldn't wake the system when put into sleep vs full shutdown * The system keeps telling you something is ready to install and took for ever to shut up about it * Kept loosing connection to my wifi but I think this fault is on my wifi as i've been having troubles with other devices recently * I'd scroll to another item in the OS and it kept auto scrolling back to another app after a few seconds (went away after I started installing some of my digital games) * PSN Service issues Other then that, I'm really enjoying knack. It's a solid 6.5/7 game and I think reviews are too harsh. It also has some really solid material shaders to look at. Resogun is also great and flower looks and plays stunning on ps4 (better then ps3). Contrast is another Alice 1, Clunky and flawed but the story is interesting and keeps you going.
*hand raised* I guess we're just getting old. I'll definitely wait a few years before I get a One, I might get a Wii U next year though.
http://www.cinemablend.com/games/ps...ng-due-thermal-paste-lead-sabotage-60604.html Not sure if there is any truth to this article, but if the PS4 has the next RROD, here's maybe why.
As far my opinion goes, everything about PS4 failures is full of bullshit right now. I went on amazon site and looked at all the negative review. Their story is full of nonsense as far I concern and it just doesn't add up how they write. Only reason I said that is because my sister boyfriend and two of my friends has PS4 and they confirm that they had no issue with PS4 so far. Don't get me wrong here, Sony wouldn't be that stupid If they didn't have the tester's to test the PS4 system to check and make sure it reliable before they actually shipped off to the store. I wait unit it launch in Europe, time will tell by then.
Failures aside it's just got the problems of a console luanch. Namely not enough games to play, and not enough coming out in the near future.
You'd think they'd at least fix not having enough timely releases. When I got my Wii I sold it after a year due to lack of anything worth a damn to play and I ended up buying my friend's Wii who was ahead of me in line at launch day by a single spot. Still not much worth playing on it but a damn sight better than year 1 was.
