I felt the same way with the Wii, bought it on launch and only owned Excite Truck for years before any games that caught my attention got released... Ahhh I think I'll get my PS4 when Carmageddon comes out.
I also bought the Wii early and also sold it due to the same problem. I actually bought another one when the limited edition New SMB console was available. I played it a little bit and now it just sits in the closet.
The more I see of the PS4 the less I want it. I like that pulsating light it has but the console sounds like a plane landing in videos that have been posted. Usually sony would never produce a console like that. The PS3 both fat and slim were a very elegant design in every respect. I think the failure rates of the ps4 are standard for a post 2005 launch console which means they're mostly broken and your lucky if you get a working one! With the exception of the Wii which had a very low failure rate but that was basically a gamecube with a dvd drive. I guess eventually when something comes out that I have to have I'll break down and get it but its going to be awhile. The upcoming Metal Gear Ground Zeros is the first ever Metal Gear I've had no interest in. I think Peace Walker was the final great MGS game with Rising being a much needed new change to the series.
I have played my PS4 pretty much all weekend and I really enjoyed it. The controller is mighty lovely and the system is also pretty great , once some games come out I think it's going to be an amazing system.
I wouldn't consider these minor issues. Having the port not correctly aligned is a problem and shouldn't be something a user should have to do to get it to work. Also if the machine is over heating with normal use and it's in a well vented area. It should not get hot, this tells me that Sony didn't test these machines with heavy use. :/ =hugh
So my PS4 arrived today and... it works fine. The only issues I've run into are having to get to the US PSN store from a country where the console isn't released yet. Otherwise it's gone really well. The unit looks great, the controller is easily the best Sony have ever made and overall, a few hours in, I'm pretty happy. Resogun is fantastic, too. For the curious, the model number on mine is CUH-1001A.
Congrats, what issues are you having with the US PSN store from where you are? Just curious? Is it because everything is in US dollars? You can buy a psn card to buy things.
To be honest, the hardest part was getting the damn thing to load. I was able to make a US PSN account easily, although not being able to use my credit card sucks. I got a bunch of errors at first that I thought might have been an IP-based geoblock but after I restarted the system that seemed to sort itself out. Looks like I can't use the free PSPlus subscription though, as it requires a credit card with a US address.
Don't make a US account and try to add a credit card from another country. I've seen lots of people having their accounts banned for this alone. PSN prepaid cards are the way to go.
PSN accounts are unified. You can use the same account for PS3, PSVita and PS4. If you have PlayStationPlus on that account, it will work for all 3 systems. So yes, if you already have a PSN account, you simply have to log in.
Can you play PSN games you've purchased/downloaded on your PS3 (Everyday Shooter, Flower, Parasite Eve, whatever) on your PS4?
What I'd like to know if you can download PS4 games from PS+ on a PS3 (so you can own them on PSN) like you can with Vita games.
Flower is cross-buy. So if you bought the PS3 version, the PS4 version will be free to download. Don't know about other PS3 digital and PS2 / PS1 classics. I think these will be available later through Gaikai streaming. I don't think so. Read it somewhere, maybe neogaf.
I think you can "activate" free PS+ PS4 games without PS4 here: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/
Yeah, that's why I'm not getting any of these for the first year or so. I might get a Wii U next spring/summer, but that's the earliest. Not a very high bar, Dualshocks 1-3 were original PSX controllers with analog sticks shoehorned in there. From the best of my knowledge, it would only be ones that have been released, and you might need to buy them again. I would imagine PS Classics would work fine. Nope, I can't get Resogun or Contrast on my account, they don't show up in PS+. I think with the prepaid PS+ cards you have to use your system, at least that's how it is on PS3.
