http://psp.ign.com/articles/599/599156p1.html?fromint=1 low sales and alot of people returning it because of dead pixels LOL xD.
Yay! Let's hope it completely fails. Any form of competition in the handheld market would totally suck for the consumers. Wouldn't want Nintendo having to pull their finger out or anything.
grand theft auto psp will also sell them. It's supposed to be a story to itself, not a port. The GTA fans will want it bad probably.
i was pondering if i should buy a PSP or not. i guess i'm going NO for now. from all the hype that's been going around, you'd think it would have sold well (everywhere since it did sell OK in some places) but with the price and screen defects, i guess lots of people have decided to keep their wallets closed. i'm far from being a fanboy but i'm kinda liking the fact that sony are being kicked in the ass right now. i might buy one later after the defects are fixed and the price goes down, i'm not sure yet. i guess it all depends on sony's stance on this.
God, could you be any more of a Fanboy right now? Besides competition is good, and would crush the monopoly of handheld games we have at the moment. Monopoiles are bad for the consumers, man.
Just got home today to my new PSP waiting for me.....don't know what all the negativity is over as I LOVE it....I'm not a big PS or PS2 fan but this thing is incredible! My DS might be on the shelf for a while..... PS...I think Chief Chujo was being sarcastic...I think he's making fun of everyone wanting a new system to fail...
thats the thing though. There really was no hype outside of game magazines or whatever. Thats fine if it were just a game console, but Sony made it play UMD and mp3's and whatever else. You'd think they would have advertised it more prior to launch. I'm sure the average person hasnt even heard about screen defects, so the bad sales is another issue.
Sarcasm A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound. A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule. The use of sarcasm.
well from the get go sony did say it would not compete directly against nintendo in the handeled market due to price, but im not too shocked that its not selling too well, with the poor advertising and high price its a tough sell. Im wondering if nintendo is holding off on releasing its best stuff for the ds atm due to the launch of psp.
Sarcasm-impossible to see when used on the net, especially with the staggering amount of fanboys that have computers.
1. Media has no protective shutter (want the media to dirt and eventually damage the psp so you need a new one) 2. Shoddy screens, high returns. I found heaps of psp everywhere. Tiger woods does not fucking excite me, neither does a ten year old capcom fighting game.
sayin999: It's more likly that Nintendo is holding off till E3 to show all the neat DS stuff the probably/hopefully have in the works. Everyone else: I think the psp will probably start to sell alot better once sony... 1. Increases the battery life through hardware or firmware upgrades. 2. Has a considerably lower defect rate, especialy when it comes to dead pixel screens. 3. Homebrew on psp becomes a reality (which it looks like someprogress has already been made on) 4. Lowers the price some to better compete with the DS (and whether or not they want to admit it, ds and psp are in competition for the handheld market) Games (GTA/Gran Turismo/FF7:CC/etc.), and accesories (good screen protectors) will help also, but for the most part once some of those four things have been done the psp will probably start to really pick up in sales. At the very least, I know those are the reasons im holding off getting one.
Guys listen to this !! My wife was reading Yahoo Japan news and she said that Sony have to stop sales of their PSP in the US. I said I know because the screenes are fucked but she said that wasn't the reason. the reason is something to do with using or not using US made parts. Something about the law in the US. maybe some of our US members can shed some light on this law. Yakumo
Yesterday my friend and I went to Walmart because he wanted to get a PSP. So we go there hoping there would be at least one. Well there were tons of them, right then and there I knew that Sony was in trouble. Three days after the DS launch you wouldn't have been able to find one anywhere. So I saw the PSP for the first time there on display playing the Spiderman movie and I was blown away by how good the screen looked. Incredibly crisp and bright I just couldn't believe it. I was thinking about getting one. So my friend buys one with Twisted Metal 4. Bring it home and start playing the game. The movies looked very good and everything and then it got to the in game engine playing a movie and I almost laughed (I'm sure other games look better). It looked horrible and damn does that screen blur. I understand that it is a normal characteristic of LCD's to blur but because of the large size of the screen it makes it really bad. The funny thing about that is I remember Sony saying a couple of years ago that they were going to hold off on their portable system because they said that LCD screens were too slow at the time. Still though I think its a neat system. I would buy one for $100.
I'd be all over it at at cheaper price, but with Sony's easily broken hardware, I'm going to be holding off for a long time. You just know (or at least I hope) that they're going to release a version with a shutter on the games, and better battery life, and a fancier newer firmware that does all sorts of crazy shit. By that time, the memorty stick prices will probably go down too. I don't think the games look too unappealing. I like games in the Ridge Racer series, and I hear lumines is good...and I got a bit of a stiffy over the idea of a fighting game...but it's all stuff available on other systems. Heh, I bet Nintendo is loving every minute of this. They were probably scared shitless over this...and now it's getting a lukewarm reception compared to DS.
