But is this one real? I only use my PSP for Homebrew, frankly all the real games are shit. PiMPstreamer and all the Emus are great, they just need some more dev time.
Nice!! Can't wait to try this, although I don't know why I need it, as I do not play commercial games on my PSP. Could make a nice bit of side money performing mods though.
I call bullshit on this. "or custom flash builds". That would mean that they have broken the encryption, which I'm pretty sure they have not...
Wouldn't that limitation only apply if it were a software mod. I would think that the whol purpose of this would be to bypass the on chip updates and force the system to use whatever is on the mod flash.
But that means they have access to dev files or whatever they need for the system to actually execute the code. Creating a whole new firmware isnt as easy as it sounds, id guess heh
No If it was as easy as to simply replace the chip to run a new firmware then anyone with some desoldering wick and half decent soldering skills could do it.
I disagree (sort of), as I had a great time With Daxter...though i'll agree that beyond that the lineup does suck pretty hard. GTA has a frightening number of issues that should have been addressed (first 3D GTA i've played, was expecting something much better). Katamari is more or less a shell of its console versions. And While as Burnout Legends is fun for a while, its far too limited to be worth playing all the way through. Everything else i've played has been not just flawed, but downright weak. The PS1 emulator and that mod chip (assuming it's not fake) can't get here fast enough.
When it comes down to it though, the PS1 emulator is just an emulator. I hope developers dont just start releasing PS1 "port" instead of taking the time to make something FOR the PSP.
How the fuck do they plan to squezze this bigass chip inside the PSP? I saw one opened the other day and I tell ya theres not enough room inside for this modchip. They may have to do it external, like Datel's HDD, but that would make the PSP pretty cumbersome. I wonder if sony has any kind of quality levels for PSP games, cuz if they do they are too damn low.
I imagine it can fit in there. Also I'd guess that at first it'll mainly be used to put firmwire 1.0 or 1.5 on there since creating your own firmware would probably be difficult and take time. And the system might not take kindly to hacking official firmwares by performing integrity checks. But being able to have both 1.5 and the latest firmware makes it so you can run all the homebrew you want as well as all the latest games on UMDs with no worrys about firmware updates. I'd definitely like to get one, but they say it'll be 90$. I don't know if that's worth it since I really don't intend to use it for pirating games.
When you click on the full size image it doesnt look that big, and it may be quite thin too. I cant wait to get my hands on one of these if it is legit :love2:
yes, fixes bricked psps, oh my!!! Too bad i sold most of my psp stuff already, still got psp unless assembler decideds to really buy it, if that deal falls through might consider this mod chip.
I don't know if I trust my soldering skills on a $250 piece of hardware. Got any pros willing to make a few bucks?
Dunno, there's another 90 bucks for a 2GB MSduo if you want a buttload of games on the go. I wouldnt use it for piracy, since having only one game (cuz the UMD is 1.8GBs) and the fact that the number of PSP games I like is bigger than the number of figers in my hand makes piracy pretty dumb. Dunno, unless they release UMD-Rs or a 10GB microdrive that's faster than Datel's...
