Pretty convenient device. It does have some cons for streaming PS4 since it'll most likely be one at a time but if you live alone and have your media center in your living room, you can use this to play PS4 in your room. I just wish there was more support for the Vita. Hopefully Sony will get back into releasing more PS1 & PS2 classics since there are a lot that still haven't made it on PSN. I really don't like them pushing all digital since PS3 PSN games wont fully be on PS4 but oh well. Definitely picking up a PS4 next year and maybe this if I have the extra cash

I had my blu ray player before my PS3. and there are features my Blu Ray player has that my PS3 doesn't

Where the fuck are Mega Man 5 and 6? I need those on PSN. I have 2 and 3. I need 5 and 6 then I'll have all my favorite Mega Man games on PS3

Ok. But PSVita doesn't run PS2 games, not even emulated. Since they're releasing Vita TV and it supports two player games, then the obvious choice has to be Tekken 3.

Blame Crapcom. Maybe they didn't figured out how to add DLC to those games.

This thing can be great, but in current state it's flawed.
Main functions are streaming services and rumoured IPTV (Viacom deal). But unlike competitors (Apple TV, Google TV etc.) it can offer PS Vita games, PSP, PSX. Later with Gaikai (when?): PS2, PS3. Plus you can use it for Remote Play of PS4.
1 flaw: Vita interface is not great for controller. They should rework it to be PS4 or Bravia like.
2 $99 model (presumably) does not come with ANY controller. And you have to setup it once with DS3 or PS3 Remote Control. You can use HDMI-CEC control later.
3 Mass consumer wont tolerate PS1, PSP and most Vita games graphics.
4 1080i, 2.0 audio output is not great for media.
So unfortunately I do not think this takes off.
But it's great device for those who want to play free PS+ Vita games and PS4 in other room :)

Doubtful. They are doing this with the lowest spending on R&D possible.

The two SKU's available are for Japan. We don't know how they'll release it in the west. The one that comes with a DS3 is because the PS4 will only launch there next February. For the west, they'll probably add a DS4 for the $150 version. Still, the cheaper SKU is a smart decision, since most people have a DS3 at home by now. And like you said, HDMI-CEC.

It's a $99 insanely small "console". People still buy PS2's today and connect them to an HDTV with composite cables. Anyway, it's a great idea for parents with small kids, specially if they have any Sony console and PlayStation Plus.

Again, you can't ask much for a $99 small box. All small media boxes like AppleTV, Roky, WDTV have pros and cons.

99 is cheap. But without controller and memory. 1GB can handle 1-2 PSX games. Real price for mass market is $150 value pack. They did not go with DS4 bundle in Japan not because PS4 won't come out, but because DS3 is significantly cheaper to make.

This will be much bigger in the development world, if you even been there you know hardware in those places is expensive as fuck. I dont condone piracy but the reason its so common over there is because when you are paying 3 to 4 times the original price with wages much lower than in the first world you have to compensate somewhere, and pirating software is the easiest choice.

This VitaTV is the inexpensive hardware those markets need

not only the wages, but also the fact that a lot of software still does not get released in some places, such as Indonesia, and it's much harder to even get a retail copy of a game.
