Please, reserve a PSX for me Kevin. Pretty please, with sugar on top.

Isn't just DCs made before August 2000?

I might be interested but I imagine postage to UK may make it more than I'd want to pay.

Perhaps if you get a few people in UK (or Europe) interested it may be an idea to ship in bulk to one person who can then act as a local ditributor? May reduce postal costs.

No point as this would increase the chances of getting hit by customs.

    I shotgun the DC. :D

I still don't understand the DC debug thingy. Were they Dreamcasts that were released as regular in stores but were QA, or were they never sold before...

These were never sold!! The only difference is that they are region free. If you happen to own one made before August 2000, then chances are it can play CDRs and import without a modchip. My bro owns one made in May 2000 which can play Ikaruga, which is burned to a CD as well as a ton of DC emulators.

  9. ...They are usually regular retail DC's with the letter's 'QA' followed by inventory number engraved/scratched roughly by hand on the top, so that employee's remember to return them after use ;-)

If I ever get one, I'll just replace the top cover with my cousin's broken Dreamcast. ;)

Region free my ass, I call BS on the QA DC :( Dreamcasts cannot play original import games without a bootdisc or modchip, period.

Then you'll just have a FREAKING retail Dreamcast no different than what you get from GameStop; Jesus this thread is sick!

I find the things scratched into debug systems to be one of the most charming parts of them.

They are grey, the 30$ ones

  18. Borman wrote that the psx units are grey. Are they real debuggers meaning blue or green? If you have both blue and green, I'll take one of each color and one more for good luck. Also, would you by chance have any extra green latches for the back compartment on the green debuggers? If so, I need two green latches which aren't broken. Thank you.

there are no region free dreamcasts. These debug units will be chipped DC's. Sega always supplied system discs with units. There is no Bios which is region free for the dreamcast.

The QA scratched onto them will be done by someone in QA. Stickers can be peeled off so they would have scratched them in.

The very pre-release DC's were all regions. They all have the clear jewel and pipe cooling. Also they came with a metal terminator board where the modem should be (its moulded in the same shape as the modem with no line-out etc. The bios in these DC's is slighty different, but its nothing exciting the GD's just kept spinning for longer when they were not being accessed. This made the system run hotter and Sega changed this before the unit was released.

    (apparently)

... and I was looking for this exact thread yesterday. Thanks for the clarification on the Dreamcast units!
