Found this via nesforums. There are now actual PSX clones that play roms from sd cards! http://dx.com/p/jxd-m1000-home-console-multimedia-player-with-hdmi-av-sd-slot-56491 http://dx.com/p/rx-ps-one-video-game-player-with-usb-sd-av-hdmi-65700
cheers for the info, im guessing its emulated? which is why it has a small amount of games playable, says supports 200+
Link to the nesforums thread? Anyone actually got one and tried it out? Just looks like a ARM based device with emulators to me.
Probably is, this isn't exactly "new" news, they have been around before actually. Not sure how well they perform though, according to some reviews games run just way too slow, like racing games.
Played with one of these but didn't open it up. It's fine if you want to play 2D games but 3D games like RE run like absolute shite. Don't waste your money on one of these.
I already saw the first one working. The emulation is terrible, very slow. The idea is interesting, too bad it's not well put together.
There was a thread about these a few years back, like mkst said there pretty terrible at emulating complex games. Rather get a real psone, or if you must have a emulator based system get a "UG802" there are tuns of android psx emulators and most are just fine , or atleast as good as emulators go.
with all the technology in 2013 why are people surprised about this? Playing copied games was done as far back as 1995 using the swaptrick. It's 2013 and people are shocked you can do it on an sd card?lol I agree with assembler, why bother? I've found psone consoles for $1 at swapmeets/thriftstores before and they did work. just like the sd2snes which lets you play snes games on an sd card i bet (this clone) is expensive.
exactly, if this worked 100% I would go for it over a normal PSX (original playstation has always been known as this around here) anyday
because one of the biggest problems with playstations is the lasers wear out - no need for a laser with this unit so it wont wear out - simples! oh and no disc swapping which sounds a better solution the older and lazy i get!
Lol! I just pointed out the correct naming, and most people says it's fine to call it PSX; however in other threads most people corrected others using PSX as name for PS1... go figure... Anyway, back to topic: I agree that unless the compatibility is near perfect, there's no reason to get this over the real console.
